Another old school pub of two halves next door to the market. Not as rough and ready (though the pool table appears to be in the lounge or 'posh' half) as the market with a £2-95 price tag for a pint of Okells bitter probably keeping the riffier raff out.

Always try to visit on my infrequent visits to the Island.
Okells Mild is no more but Bushy's Ruby Mild as sold here is even better.
Still has Guinness off the shelf and is now listed on CAMRA Heritage Pubs website.
Long may the Albert prosper.

Situated immediately nextdoor to the Old Market Inn, this is another traditional boozer. It has two larger rooms than its neighbour and stocks some more unusual ales from the island. Okells Bitter is in just about every pub. But this pub also had Bushy's Ruby Mild & Castletown Bitter & Hooded Ram Ram's Best Bitter. There were a few characters in here. Much of the action centred around the pool table. Others were more interested in some kind of quiz machine, whilst one old boy contented himself by putting some kind of dross on the jukebox and swaying to whatever noise was emanating from it. The other room seemed quieter and there were nautical pictures on the wall. I preferred the Old Market. But this is not a bad pub.

Seems to be just about the last pub in Douglas with Okells mild. Also bottled Guinness "From the fridge or off the shelf?."How civilized bottled beer served at room temperature,as it should be. The beer is really good here.

Very much a back street local boozer, although the beer was good.

I'll use basic as the word "rough" has been used already a few times! Went in to tick the box whilst waiting for a bus. It seemed that the colourful language was cranked up in volume and frequency when they spotted I had my wife with me. This settled down to a dull roar when they saw she was not intimidated. Not a problem being a teacher of the young and immature!
Beer was good though!

I wouldn't necassarily use the word "rough" but I can see how you could easily be intimidated by the rather loud locals in here!
An interesting 2 room pub serving Okells Bitter, Bushy's Castletown and a guest from 2.45. Pool table.

Bit suprised by the last comment. Didn't give me the impression of being a rough pub, and it was OK when we were there last week. I got the impression that it was a friendly back street boozer. Enjoyed the Okells Mild before catching the bus from the nearby bus stands in Lord Street.

Real ales pretty good and that's it really. It's a rough pub, 2 bars, one very rough the other just rough. Did I mention this was a rough pub?

Popped in for a pint of Okells Bitter. Nice pint well kept. This pub is somewhat off putting from the outside but very much a traditional "man's" drinking pub inside. Close to the quay and ferry port. No food available but the manager did say we could bring in a sandwich to eat if we wished. Locals friendly and helpful in pointing out other locations on the island to find a good pint. If you like the old style drinking pub then stop in for a pint.

Traditional locals boozer serving perfect pints of local beers. Pub full of character and characters. Handy for the ferry terminal.

One of the smokiest pubs I've ever been in!

A real pubmans pub - the sort of place you expect sawdust on the floor and really good ale.
I give this down to earth Dickensian pub a higher note for its ambiance. The beer is in line with all other local beers

Hit the nail on the head Dave. Can't work out whether this is a Celtic gig or comfy corner place. Always half expecting a down and out to ask to borrow a pint! A real pub though

Hardcore old man's pub in one bar, the other a pseudo-goth thing, with regular live bands, does get packed. Weird
