Was known as Stadium Bar for a while, now a another sainsburys local, a shame.

NOW CLOSED - being converted to another Sainsbury's local supermarket (December 2012).

Was hideous when it was a "Walkabout" - seems that all the antipodean scumdogs gravitate towards that chain (if "Awwstrayleeahh" is so much better than the UK, I'll happily push you in the direction of Heathrow, where you'll find numerous Qantas things heading south of the equator, and you can stop re-polluting our shores with offspring of the degenerates we sent there in the first place :)

I love any walkies... was there again and does what it says on the label. Get Aussies, Kiwis, Saffas and ZImbos hammered :O)

Always a special on the booze, always sports on the telly and always some Southern Hemispherean (or a bit of Pompey lad) propping up the bar.

Cheap beers & cheaper music... late licence.

Only thing I hate is the bouncers.. they are rude, obnoxious, and on a power trip!

i must say the brown haired doorwomen that stands on the door and calls everybloke 'darling' is the most rude and full of herself person i have ever met. she grabs your arm if you forget to pay and if she is challenged by someone she starts crying. i saw her get bottled in there a week or so ago and even her colleagues were laughing at her and the way she was acting i mean come on its their job to make sure that kinda thing dosent happen.
there is a small but stocky guy in there and i dont understand why he is a doorsupervisor he does nothing, just stands there trying to pounce on all the drunked girls. another door steward thinks hes rambo in there but i swear hes not even 20 yet walks around with his arms bent and tensed all the time hes got a baby face (got and have your first shave).
mind you there are some very good doorstaff there, a very tall muscley black bloke was in there this weekend and he was very polite and helpful to me. and i even saw him help his colleague out.
his colleague was a big muscley guy too watched him try to ask a guy to leave the guy ignored him so he grabbed him which i dont blame him doing. do not read the other reports as it will give you a bad impression of the venue there is some bad staf there but the good ones are the ones that make me go back.

i have been going to this pub for 6 years now and i must say its one of the most nicest and friendliest of places down the filth of guildhall walk, i broke my foot and the blonde door steward helped me in the venue and even helped me sit down.
i had to show my id which i was a bit concerned about but when the guy who was standing in the road explained to me why i agreed and thought it was a excellent way to keep people safe knowing that if something happens to you the paramedics have your details on your id.
there was a few fights in the club but i witnessed the doorstaff talking to a gentleman for around 5 mins and eventually they restrained him and ejected him which i thought was very good and professional i feel very safe when i go in the pub and id just like to let people know this is a excellent pub dont mock it till you have been there.

I agree completely about the door staff. There is one serious dyke that stands at the door ~ she looks like the headmistress from Matilda!

i Like in there ~ great staff!!! I love the live bands that play and good for an afternoon of ruggas.

Oh and they have proper size lunches!

Common theme here (dont the staff read)!!!

The door staff are the most horrible, and utterly unreasonable people I have ever met (and yes we were "allowed" in)
they seem to pick arguments with everyone in the que for no reason, truly Horrible!
- a great shame beacuse the bar staff are ALL lovely, serve in turn ,polite and helpful (recommendeing beers)
Why have the IDIOTS on the door set a very bad impression beofre your even inside; they were activly instigating confruntation, even with the girls!
*MANAGEMENT NOTE - THEY ARE RUINING YOUR BAR!!*

I am afraid I have to agree about the door staff. It seems to be a theme that is increasingly common with the Walkabout chain. Do they have a training school or something, where they train their staff on the virtues of apartheid-era South Africa?

It's fine if you can actually be bothered to negotiate with someone with the IQ of a cabbage, sadly as I get older I find I simply cannot be bothered arguing with miserable arseholes who'se wages I will ultimately be paying.

SERIOUSLY!! do NOT drink in there-
i agree with the other posts;

I have NEVER (repeat) NEVER meet such miserable and unpleasent door staff.
They are rude beyond belief, and pick on people for no reason (usualy male)

This realy needs to be made clear- you will NOT have a pleasent time inside due to these brainless thugs. I witnessed competly unprovoked, highly agressive behaviour from them towards innocent people.

Go elsewhere, there are plenty more great bars in Guildhall, and you will be treated like a customer, not an inconvienince.
Door 'staff' GO AWAY!

Good bar, great for guildhall square, good priced drinks (of the type you'd expect!)
Good atmosphere, and great when a sporting event is on, as there are plenty of screens- even a huge drop down if its realy big!

Downside- sadly the "door supervisors" are a realy miserable lot, and far too keen to throw their weight around. I witnessed several unprovoked attacks from them, and they are Very heavy handed- the traditional NO brian, thump first. The city, and this bar do not need these types of thugs. Get RID.

The bar staff however, are always happy, and quick to serve.

Sort the thugs on the door out, and it would be a great pub.

spent many a good night in here, great atmosphere, good beer , great music (if you'r not a music snob). dancing, drinking, smiling. what more could you want from a night out.

Not the best Walkabout I've been in. Great place to watch southern hemisphere rugby, etc, otherwise there are friendlier (the door staff again!) places around the Guildhall.

Music is good, bar staff mostly friendly. Has some good special offers occasionally. Shame about the door staff who can't count above 4, and so won't allow groups (even mixed).

it truely is The Awesome Spirit of Australia (and New Zealand, and South Africa, etc, etc....)... and of course Portsmouth!

And there are a couple of really hot bar maids!

Very nice pub with a great atmosphere also good selection of music. Do not visit in groups on more than 3. This is due to observing over enthusiastic door staff and there friends. Would give it a high rating if it was not due to previous comment

Spacious, good music, nice seating, large dance floor, friendly service, cheap but quality food, overall all a big thumbs up!
