This is was pub number 3 we arrived here around 6.15pm after the very disappointing Running Footman and it was busy outside but almost empty inside.
I’m sure I’ve been here before but I cannot remember much about my visit and it would almost have certainly been more than 10 years ago.
Now a Taylor Walker pub with 4 hand pumps offering 3 ales, Portobello Brewing Co Westway Pale Ale, Greene King London Glory and Sambrook's Scrumdown. The Westway Pale Ale was very good, served to me by a very surly looking Eastern European barmaid, I reminded her that smiles don’t take much effort but this fell on deaf ears.
Internally there are stained glass mirrors & stained glass door panels, an attractive brass & wooden bar top and a very cosy feel.
Smoking is allowed to the front of the pub where they are heaters above to keep people warm.
An attractive pub, decent ale and surly bar staff what more do you want from a Central London boozer.

Granted Friday night in early summer isn't the best time to visit but I found this to be pretty listless and unremarkable in truth. Upstairs tables were reserved (a golden rule of avoidance if ever there was one). Nice that it hasn't been overly modernised but there is little reason to come here.

Pleasantly small, and quiet enough for a proper conversation. Helpful guvnor.

Nice small pub on Stafford St which although yards from Bond St is in a quiet part of Mayfair. It is a small narrow pub with mostly dr furnishings and decor. It has an intimate atmosphere and a TV mounted on the wall near the front of the pub that was showing Sky Sports news when I was in. A dining area is located up on the first floor.
Ales on offer were Pride, Broadside, Youngs London Gold and Doom Bar which while perfectly acceptable does not compete with one or two of the Nicholsons pubs nearby.
I liked this pub and it was ideal for a quiet afternoon drink. It is probably more unpleasantly crowded in the evening but I quite liked this place.

Small, and quite quiet, but no bad thing. Hard-working chap behind the bar. Served a decent Guinness and a good Young's Bitter. Only two hand pumps on when I went in there, the other being Greene King IPA. Pub across the road was much busier, as others have said!

Popped in this afternoon after an absence of many, many years. Pretty quiet but good lass behind the bar, restful atmosphere and well worth the visit. The King's Head across the road was doing better trade but a short visit there suggested that there is no justice in the world. I'll report on that separately.

An excellent, friendly little boozer ,with a really nice atmosphere. As Strongers says, it remains relatively peaceful while the place across the road is heaving, and that's a big plus for me. Very drinkable Pride, too.

Unlike the great array of ales that the Kings Head had across the road the only ales available were Pride and Greene King IPA which would explain why there were half as many people using this pub. Another ale was off and there was an unused pump, but there were no premium lagers.
The pub is very small, but there is a dining room and bar upstairs which Im afraid that I did not see. There is a plasma screen which was showing Sky Sports News, but the pub does not have Sky Sports for the football.
I found the staff to be very friendly and I would return as I thought the Pride was very nice.

Best pub in the nearby area,

Before the smoking ban came into force this was quite possibly the smokiest pub I have ever been in! Apart from that, good little pub. During the summer you can stand outside and if you don't fancy staying then just pop across the road to the Kings Head next door. All in all good pub for an after work pint (or ten)!

Great little pub. Well kept real ale. IPA was very palatable and a bargain to boot. Lunch was good honest pub fare - filling and good value.

Worked here many yrs ago. Sorry to say but the decor needs attention. The place is filthy and way too smokey. But its good to see that the street is still lively. I'll pop back when you clean up your act. Such a shame to see the place go down hill so much. No excuse for filth

Nice busy pub. Beer (Deuchers) was well kept. Fourth pub on my Friday Night List and glad it was added. Another pub worth a visit without being outstanding.
|
Thoroughly approve of this place. Good ales, the legendary Deuchars among them. Last time we were there the kitchen was closed so the chef went to Tescos and came back with a bumper pack of cocktail sausages which he insisted everyone shared round. Later, a small mouse popped out of a large hole in the wooden panelling, wandered around for a bit, then crept back in. You can't buy that kind of thing. Particularly in Zone 1. A cracking pub.

A little jewel of a pub - just off Piccadily but not too visible - completely unspoilt by 'theming' or modernisation. Good real ales and friendly staff - and good, very cheap meals. If you can find it, keep it a secret.

The landlord referred to by the previous people who posted has left and was replaced by a bloke who got on my nerves, but has already been moved on. A really nice pub though. decent ales, Duechers on tap for the afficianados. Too small for large parties which occasionally does happen.

Concur with the comments. A true London pub with excellent cask ale, superbly friendly landlord and not tempted to turn gastro! 10 out of 10.

Fantastic pub, selling a great range of real ales. The staff are friendly and know their regulars. Never crowded, but has extra seating upstairs. Great traditional pub atmosphere.
