I was recently returning from a weekend sabbatical in Dorset with my good lady wife when we came across this hostelry conveniently situated on the route back to our pied a terre in Surrey. We proceeded to the car park where there was a convenient space just between the gypsy caravan and a pothole. Whilst the broken window and wall detracted from its immediate appeal, we overcame our initial reticence and entered the establishment. My partner selected a fine Amontillado from the extensive wine list whilst I plumped for a full bodied Courvoisier XO Imperial cognac.
The eclectic clientele were most entertaining and a young street urchins attempt to knock off my trilby had us laughing for days after! My wife was given the opportunity to take part in an amusing card game called Find the Lady and is still very fond of the young terrier she won as a result of her keen eye. We have named him Carney as a tribute to the heritage of the friendly regulars. All in all a splendid pub with some real characters and a truly marvelous evening!

Dreadful beyond all words.
Please someone do us all a favour and burn this pit down.

Other than the fact that I approached from the opposite direction my experience was identical to 'petergoesrock'. Only real ale available was London Pride which was foul and a glass was deliberately smashed within 5 minutes of my being there. I was happy to escape unscathed.

Gales pub, great I thought as I crossed the station bridge. Only had one beer on and dressed as I was having come from a meeting I couldn't walk out the door fast enough.

The "pikey" comment is about spot on for this place is exceptuionally bad. Its not really a pub - more a gathering point for people who like bad music played at extreme volumes in the company of mutants. Stay away fro thi place if you should ever venture to Havant as there is a better pub in The Old House At Home (South St.). Remarkably this is a George Gales pub too, so there is ale on tap, hence 1/10.

Possibly the most Pikey pub in Havant !
