Had Landlord bitter great beer, but the price was rather steep£3.70p a pint. nice pub though with a good choice of real ales.

Cant comment on the food, but the art deco interior is nice... Decent range of beers when I visited early 2012

my wife & i went for Sunday lunch 24.7.2011,there were two other diners in there my wife ordered a crab dish,i ordered sunday lunch, the crab dish was not avaiable after paying for it,she opted for a chicken dish ,when it came she was unable to cut it it was so overcooked.we told the waitress, she ofered to get an other-one my wife asked will it be cooked like the one she had,she replied yes,we said forget it.my lunch consisted of burnt soggy roast potatoes, the veg was very dry as for the roast beef, very nice on top,but the beef underneath a load of grissle.would never go back,i can see why there only two other diners in there ////

What has happened!!! last time I was in The IPA & Nottm EPA was terrible. Returned the Nottm brew (my fave) and asked for IPA instead. Warm and off. This is getting a bit too regular now. The beers are kept, but not well. Hate saying anything bad as this is my local but come on Greedy King sort it out. Food is good, but too many groups of foul mouth lads using the pub now. We were looking forward to the cocktail bar being opened again BUT me and my wife came twice and the it has been unmanned again. I used to love this pub, been coming for years, Alan was a great guy, but new guy needs to step up to the mark. Staff have always been great, but dont seem as happy to greet you now. This can be the best pub in WB, but until the beer improves and the atmosphere improves ill start going to the Willowtree

i no longer eat or drink here

Great, unpretentious pub. Good beer, nice (& cheap) food and friendly staff. My favourite drinking venue in West Bridgford - particularly good for all-day sessions!
|
Having heard about the art deco interior I have to say I was a bit disappointed. Furnishings looked about the right style but somehow seemed a bit tatty and not quite right. Five or so ales, but could have been better kept.

i often eat an drink here. it is a wonderful pub, offering something for everyone all day long. it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with smiley service and everything especially the food is very reasonably priced for what you get.
and as for the cinics the decor is fabolous, as soon as you go through those revolving doors you are transported to another world, a beautiful world where people took pride and time in decor and design

ruination completed at the time of the last `refit` - reminds me (didn`t say it looked like) of the interior of a cross channel ferry, with art deco features begrudgingly incorporated in to the `new look`. what a shame, what a sad end for a lovely old building.
|
well decor is shit, pool table not open till 7pm, let down. beer exspensive, smells of old man etc etc etc
|
Art deco interior is lovely but don't go if wanting food in the evening. Had arranged to meet a dozen friends for a meal not realising they stopped serving at 7.30 pm prompt. Explains why the pub was almost empty when we left shortly after. Very strange for a H&H venue.

Lovely decor and friendly place very good in the West Bridgford virtual desert

I used to frequent this establishment on a daily basis about 3-4 years ago and it was always a welcoming and friendly place. It did attract some wierdos, but, hey, even they like to have a drink and mingle with society every so often. Have to disagree with the comments re. the developers. Prior to its refurb in about 2001, alcoholics wouldn't have stopped there for a beer - it was an absolute hole.

Just like stepping onto the set of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot the Art Deco interior is fantastic I fell in love as soon as I walked through the swing doors. The staff were friendly and the Beer was good quality. Can't wait to visit again

I also spent a new year there and remember a bald brummie dancing on the stage and staggering about much to the dismay of the band. He looked terrible too. Was a very good new year though. A very welcoming pub even thought we were very drunk and very rowdy.
|
Spent a New Year there a couple of years ago and ended up hideously drunk and danced on the stage with my mates. I think I looked good, but on reflection Im not so sure
The beer was good and so was the live music. Its a bit weird in there almost like a hotel and as usual some weird folk but you get that everywhere dont you?

not been here for twenty years but i used to virtually live in the place hope the developers havn't nobbed it up
|
As with all Hardy Hansons pubs the beer is iffy, the decor inside is like a cafe and, basically a good pub was ruined once the developers got their hands on it.
|
The outside walls hide an architectural gem. This pub is included in the National Inventory of Outstanding Historical Pub Interiors and has won an award for it.

This is a pub built in an unusual architectural style, including the only pub in the world with a revolving door!!!!!!!!!!
They serve the Hardy Hansons range of beers.
