I'd noticed the Dragon on our walk out of town. It looked like an interesting, but small pub from the outside. We returned on our way back to the centre. Inside, the pub stretches back a fair way to the next street. But it doesn't have too much character. The ale range was also disappointing compared with other Nottingham pubs we'd visited - Adnams Broadside, Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Oakham Citra & Black Sheep Best Bitter.

This pub was as i remembered it from before, long, narrow and dark but a good atmosphere. The Harvest Pale that i had was lacklustre and just a shadow of it's former self. It tasted much better in other pubs in town.

A quirky pub, seems small but sort of meanders around a bit over several levels. Probably not a middle aged tourist's venue, but the bar bloke was polite & the pint of Black Sheep (3.40) was satisfactory. Hardly any customers at lunch time on Sunday, but there was a carnival in the city square, the weather was fine & warm, which may have drawn the punters away.

Limited beer choice (3). Strange set up minside on different levels. Very dark. If anything, a bit too trendy

Reasonable ale though not a great selection (just Adnams brews) though it does feel like you are sititng in passageways or alcoves doesn't really have a proper pub feel to the place.

I must disagree with last comment. The Dragon is definately above average and they always have a selection of Adnams including the best kept Broadside in the City. Beer garden is great. good eclectic mix of music too.
|
Average small city-centre pub; beer quality (Harvest Pale) OK but hardly Beerb Guide quality given competition in Nottingham (I thought).
|
Very Expensive avoid

Decent pub, in the good beer guide, with good pub food - recommend the beefburger with bacon and cheese.
|
An oddly structured 'long and thin' pub. Quite nice in a shabby kind of way.

A well worked blend of traditonal pub & more modern bar (e.g good spirit selection), always a lively atmosphere, good mix of clientelle. The grub is pretty good too.
|
I've always liked it in here. It mixes a classy, almost trendy atmosphere with old-fashioned pub values and does it really well. There's always a couple of good real-ales on offer too.

Great pub on the high street. Enjoyed several Deuchars which were very well kept in the interesting beer garden.
|
Good City Centre pub - We visited in daylight hours, so it looks a bit tatty but the beer is tasty. The Music/zak might put off some older clients but not us4.

love it cracking DJ on saturday playing not your normal stuff .

Awesome pub. Friendly staff and a wide selection of spirits and cocktails.
Nice outside bit as well.

Rare proper pub in the centre of town, decent pint of Adnams, good food, friendly bar staff, always lively but not usually heaving. Wish there were more like this...

Nice pub and to see a lot of the old Turf Tavern lot in there , speaks for it's self .

Funny gastro-stripped-down-old-pub-local fusion. But it does work and the bar staff were nice when i was last there. Can get a bit draughty in mid-December, but still a comfortable boozer which is rarely intimidating (youth oriented Nottingham city centre pub? Not intimidating? REALLY?) and well worth a visit.

Great friendly service from the good looking barman Johnny, good atmosphere at all times, very welcolming and unusual style old orginal pub, try it you might like it.

Worth a detour whilst in the city centre. Good food (if a little pricey), fine pint of adnams plus fair selection of top shelfers. Interesting beer garden to rear inspired by Dairmud Gavin on a Mondrian kick.

This city centre pub has a wine bar feel to it now but still sells a reasonable quality pint of Adnams.
