After a visit to the nearby 6°N, a craft beer bar that I have requested to be added, my final pub in Aberdeen city centre was the Archibald Simpson. Alas in my 23rd pub of the weekend in Scotland, I finally located a real cider. Never was a pint of Old Rosie more appreciated. This Wetherspoon's is the better of Aberdeen's two branches and has a prominent location in a former bank. Ales were Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Greene King Abbot, Kansas Avenue Red Lonesome Duck, Banks's Maui, Windswept APA & Aurora, Stewart Jack Back & Redcastle Crusader. The Balmoral Chicken with haggis was slightly different from normal 'spoons fare, but acceptable. As can often be the case, this branch of Wetherspoon's didn't have tills that could accept the 50p off CAMRA vouchers, despite the vouchers being valid. I've had this a number of times now. A decent pub to finish my tour of Aberdeen.

Visited twice. Large JDW pub in a former bank, central location. A few decent cask ales on, and quite a few craft bottles. Also off-licence. The usual JDW menu, with unbeatable prices on beer and food. It is quite a trek to the toilets, so it’s a good idea to go before you REALLY have to go.

Certainly the better looking of the two Wetherspoons in Aberdeen. The outside is very grand looking and the inside is no different. The ale selection is okay but I went for a pint of Stella at 3.09 in here (it was a hot day in Aberdeen). Nice interior and the staff seemed okay. Worth a visit as it is a nice building.

I've been in several times, but only for breakfast. However there's a clear impression that this is a very good example of the JDW brand. Previous favourable comments about management and staff are well founded.

Extremely large corner plot Wetherspoons on the corner of Union St and King St.

Named after the Architect of Aberdeen this used to be a bank

The interior looks a little tired but its a big old place so maybe its not so easy to maintain.

Large range of local and Scottish ales on tap, 12 pumps, of which 2 were coming soon and 3 were Abbot or London Pride. The Hill Climb was a good pint of IPA, all guest ales at £1.99 a pint.

Standard Wetherspoons fair, however the service has to be mentioned. There is always a lot written about the staff that work in 'spoons pubs but the staff in this establishment were excellent. Well organised, quick, correct and best of all very polite.

The staff alone will bring me back to this pub

An above average Spoons bar IMO. The door security is about right for any city centre pub and that was reflected by the easy going and relaxed atmosphere inside. The publicised chain commtiment to micro-breweries and more obscure ales has to be applauded. A set price of 1.80 a pint meant that my exceptional pint of Deuchars was 1.50 less than I had been charged in another pub nearby. One drinker ordered a pint of Burton Bridge Bitter and while it was taking ages to settle, the head barman came across and said, order another drink, and take that for no charge. The he told the other barman to turn the tap around saying, we can't sell that to customers. That is a good way to run a bar.

A decent range of ales, quick service and only 1.80pint for real ale. huge looking place from the exterior but not so big on the inside but a great interior all the same. Only thing that spoilt it was 11pm closing on bank holiday sunday. 8/10

Building & interior are something special plasterwork is remarkable. Food is average Wetherspoons & the beer can be quite good BUT the staff training is abyssmal. Not that they're not pleasant but some of the bar staff can't even recognise when a barrel has gone off. Several times I was offered vinegar. Get the training in place to serve a good pint and this would be an exceeding good pub.

Decent beer at very decent prices. Lovely old ex-bank biulding. Food not too bad but a hell of a treck to the bogs. has a reputation for being full of rowdy chavs spoiling for a fight as close to Pittodrie and the highrises.

Very average Spoons, nice old buildings, real ale below par.

Great prices, nice building. Its a trek to the toilet, but thats not a criticism. No music policy can have a tendancy to spark trouble as everyone can hear other converations. That said, wouldn;t put me off

Great pub to get smashed in just before kick off at pittodrie, there is a very obscure old man at the left hand side of the bar who has huge telescope glasses and reads the paper so closely his face and frames of his glasses are full of black ink, he could be the cities biggest degenerate, but apart fae that great bar and fine food!!
