Standard kind of pub. Crowded on matchdays. the Hawkshead was anice enough pint.

Right opposite the football ground and packed with fans before the match.
4 pumps offering 4 different ales as well as John Smiths Smooth. A couple of offerings from the local area, I opted for a pint of Hawkshead Breweries Lakeland Gold @ 4.4%.
Modern brick built building with a small seating area to the front which is on the main road.
Couldn't tell much about the decor as it was so busy.

Very warm and welcoming - great sevice by bar staff - not a bad pint either !

Traditional John Barras pub. Decent selection of real ales and ok food. Quite loud, but friendly staff and warm inviting atmosphere.

Not a bad chain pub, decent size, and a few decent beers on tap. They serve food, and were pretty friendly behind the bar. A little bit loud and generic to be a favourite, but well worth stopping into.

great staff, friendly customers good beer who could ask for more

probably the best in town after the Howard Arms. good football pub and quite handy for the ground. manager Mick is a geordie but it's not his fault. to his credit he has adapted to cumbrian life very well, even learned to swim in january which was compulsary at the time. since it's resurrection after the floods it has become the swan amongst Barras pubs ducklings. pleasure to drink there but it will be a bit better when the contractors go home.deffo 10/10 (anon)

Flooded!

If you're not a Carlisle United fan don't bother even trying to get in on a match day! If you are though go and get the crack with fellow fans. Bags of atmosphere and the beer's alright too!
