Large, popular Mitchells & Butlers pub. A little rough and ready. Smokers at the front door. Cavernous place that has little natural light. Family friendly. Has the feel of a Wetherspoons, but beer selection is poor. To compensate, has games like table football. Will do at a pinch, but there's nothing here to recommend.

On a weekend trip and stumbled across this big place. very loud and full of students but still tried it out for a one off with the group I was in. Ale was overpriced and didnt taste very good. Highlights were that there was good eye candy.

Dark and cavernous pub near the bus station. A couple of pumps off but service was adequate. Having got our drinks, we then commenced a treasure hunt to find a table that had not got plates or empties left on them. Now, this is a big pub and we were searching for some time! Being a Sunday evening, there were a handful of people in so it wasn't busy by any stretch of the imagination. We finally located one but it hadn't seen a cloth all day so was as sticky as the rest. Unfortunately, this all just points to the staff not being arsed. So, I won't be arsed to go again.

The Brass House. We visited this bar/pub for food and drinks. the place was dirty, tables not cleaned, the staff more interested to gossiping to each other than serving. ordered food which took 30 minutes to arrive!! after asking where the food was! paid a secound visit to see if it was just a bad day there! The answer to that was a HUGE NO! JUST AS BAD! food took longer and cold again! wont be going back again. advice to manager--- sack your staff, bar and kitchen! And get the cleaners in!! As i work in a hotel wont be sending anyone there.

I used to love the place, but not so much after I got assaulted in Feb 09 just outside.....

Dark, sticky, smelly...and cheap. Good place to get your drink on in the early evening, and then leave.

Top landlord, friendly staff, shame about the lack of smoking area for such a big place.

Good Menu. Toilets have been redecorated so a lot better now. Great place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks in evening especially as there are quite a few seats (some really comfy). sometimes stay there all evening other times there for a few hrs then onto a more clubby atmospshere. Music not to bad, can make requests. Karaoke on thursday. Fantastic selection of cocktails and not a bad price. Some chavs there but not enough to really notice.

its dark because on the left side all of the lights are out....beer prices compete with wetherspoons....plastic glasses and a bit grubby...but its cheap hence the average standard

The front patio is a great place to chill out but unfortunately the interior is looking very run down and could do with a makeover.

A bit hit and miss with the staff. some of them dont have a clue but seem nice enough. food was good. I like the menu. cheap beer, cheap beer, cheap beer. Lots of chavs and students, the place is so big you can ignor them though. watched a fight in here the other day.. the doormen made it worse! How the mighty have fallen.. when this place opened it was over 21's and rammed - 1200 people every weekend. Now its a confused grubby pub with the same tiolet that hasnt been decorated or repaired in 10 years!!... but... cheap - beer i had a laff...

Umm what can I say about this place? Well lets first start not sure wether it wants to be a pub or a nightclub. It is far to big to be a pub but not classy to be a club. What is it with the fair ground games?

This place used to be a good night out. Now it shabby, filthy, dark and dingy.. definately would no longer recommend.

Good place to sit out front on a summer evening and admire the short skirts and the Citroen Saxo's with body kits bombing up and down the road outside.
|
this is a filthy dirty badly managed hole just check out the cleaning before you order. hence the very dim lighting.

Massive pub, but arrive early if you like to sit and drink as it fills up rapidly after 8ish. When I was there I thought the door staff were a bit over-zealous at removing the patrons come closing time.

This pub is the greatest pub i have been to in my life. I was talking to the manager when i was there and he is very very hot!!
|
Full of chavs and the unemployable during the day - I dont venture out at night so it may improve later in the day. A vast cavern of a pub - the staff should be given roller blades. Standards of cleanliness are poor - dirty wine glasses etc. The management seem to have given up with Ales - poor availability and variety - I usually have Stella. The only redeeming factor is its close proximity to the local aviary accross the road whose residents are much more fun.

Enormous place with TV screens dotted around. Pool table(s), loads of fruit machines and the odd quiz machine. Ale wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be but because there were only around 30 people in there on my visit a lack of atmosphere resulted due to the sheer size of the place which would put some Wetherspoons outlets in the shade.

Excellent given the large jangling pub that it is.
|
Cavernous, comfortable & when I went at lunchtime, a barman who knew what he was doing.
