just cant belive how much this pub as gone down hill in the last couple off weeks ,from a great pub to eat and enjoy the company off others to an un welcomeing hole ,with rude staff ,and a dirty pub

Not too bad. I went in during the afternoon when it was not over-crowded, and found that they were selling John Smiths for 2.15 pounds a pint.

Ignore the gripes of the small minded Daily Mail readers who've not read nor paid attention to all the facts. The fact of the matter is that the top-brass of Brize Norton air base have asked pubs in the area not serve members of the armed forces in uniform and this isn't the management of the pub's decision. This is still a friendly and welcoming pub.

Nice selection of decent ales and very reasonably priced food that comes out in generous portions. True, you might have to wait a little while when it's busy but it's busy for a reason - it's a good establishment.

This is the pub that has a policy not to serve our armed forces in uniform. Should be ashamed of themselves

Not a bad pub at all.
Always seems to be a long wait for food at whatever time of day (which, to be fair, they warn you about when you order). When it does arrive it's rather good for a town centre establishment.
Not tried the ales, but the Guinness has always been in pretty good nick on my occasional visits.
Bar staff are quite attentive and friendly. Clientele are all sorts but a decent lot on the whole. The mood is relaxed and unhurried.
Toilets are a bit of a problem sometimes, but I think this is due to the building and plumbing rather than any failing on the part of the staff.
Although it isn't a 'top-notch' pub, for a town centre pub, I find it's rather pleasant and consistent.

It's worth popping in for one, atmosphere ok.

This pub deserves a much better score than 2.6! It's not brilliant, but it's got 3 Real Ales, the one I had (Brakespear) was well served, and the atmosphere on a Thursday was decent enough, with a darts match going on. Nothing special, but not bad at all.

Landlord thinks he knows everything about beer. Right...

This pub used to be the "in place" about 5 years ago. However, punters are drinking somewhere else and the pub appears to be in decline.
There is no clear image for this pub. The real ale is non existent, so be prepared for mainstream drinks.
One advantage is this pub has space and is ideal if a group of you are out in town.

Pretty average town centre boozer. Food is basic burger and chips and tends to stop at 8.30pm which is ridiculous. Can get smoky. We've given up on this place and now go to the Eagle Tavern instead.
