A welcoming pub in the centre of one of the oldest parts of Bristol. Much bigger than it looks from the outside and has some interesting photographs of old Bristol on the walls. Good beer selection served with a smile and was warm enough at time of visit to sit outside. A mixture of clientele both young an old but didn't seem particularly busy. Worth popping in if passing

Beer more palatable on last (Saturday) visit - not the usual appley taste. The plastic glasses spoilt it though. What's worse, instead of a solid rim, the edge is just turned over, leaving a sort of gutter, allowing the beer to run out of the sides of your mouth.

A decent enough, if slightly down at heel pub tucked away in the back lanes around St. Nicholas Market, but just a short stroll from Corn Street and the centre. Its a good sized pub with the main bar being up a few steps and surprisingly big, whilst there is what might loosely be described as a lounge area at street level.
Music policy seems to lean towards various metal genres and it consequently attracts a few alternative types, but it always seems friendly enough. Decor is basic floor boards and shabby paintwork. There are a few benches outside which is a pleasant enough spot to watch the world going by.
Unfortunately I thought I had reviewed this pub before and so didnt note the beers that they had on. Ciders however were Addlestones, Strongbow and Aspalls Suffolk.

Agree with hammers 101 , friendly rockers , went in there with my Dad whose 80 who liked it , had the carvery which was very good value , menu looked good , couple of real ales , title's of which obviuosly suited the pub , that said were both very good , think the rating is about right . 7/10

very good pub with friendly rocker type clientele, bigger than you might think inside

A Good City Pub "Pub", not trying to be anything it isn't. Had a 2.00 pint of "J Bassett - Liquid Metal" which was on tap, sadly after looking on the net i cannot find any record of this ale, maybe a renaming of something boring? who knows i deff dont! 6/10

Bit of a rock pub, but friendly staff and good choice of beer.

A bit TOO rough 'n' ready, especially downstairs, but good turnover of ales make it worth occasional visits

Great, like the Hatchet was before they re-did it. Very scuzzy but in a really charming way. Good selection of ales. It looks like the landlord got a bulk deal on Jaegermeister as they're practically using bottles of the stuff as bricks. Lots of rockers, good rock music and a high chance of catching a disease. A bit like the bar in from Dusk till Dawn, in fact I think I did see an ancient pyramid out the back.

Not the prettiest of pubs, but the staff were friendly. Went in looking for a pint, they sold me one. No complaints.
