Small Spoons with very cheap beer, usual good service and decent, if strong, real ales.

I understand that the pub has had a bad reputation in the past but I personally feel that it has come on leaps and bounds since the new Manageress, Melanie, has took over. In just a few short years the pub has become much more involved in our community and our efforts with charity events. They have hosted numerous events to raise over 5000 for CLIC Sergeant and other charities including a 12 hour non-stop exercise bike ride in which both staff and customers contributed to keeping them going for the 12 hours and some even going on more than once. Somehow, whilst doing all this, they have been able to keep up a high standard of cleanliness, great quality and low prices. In my opinion this family pub has had a new lease of life and with the new Manageress at the forefront things are only going to get better. 10/10 excellent service

hiya ide just like to say that the five quarter is my favourite pub of all the time the staff are really friendly and helpfull and are always there to cater for your every need.I would also like to say that the manager mel has turned it around a few years ago i remeber when i would go in there was scum all over but now it gives off a nice family atmosphere and the place is very welcoming to every 1. i would also like to say that the tall guy with glasses on i think his names alex he is absolutly brilliant hes always cleaning and best of all hes always got a smile on his face. i dont no were all these bad comments about the pub are coming from because it is a lovely place and brilliant service. i suggest it to any 1 wether your just going for a drink or taking the family out for a drink or even just fancy a quick coffee then the five quarter is the place to be.

well dont to wetherspoons the five quarter staff who won the award for wetherspoons best charity and community pub of the year. out of nearly 800 pubs peterlee won. also well done to the five quarter staff who have won the regional c.q.s.m.a trophy 7 times. this is where mystery shoppers visit the pub and score them on service cleanliness and food. also well done to the five quarters for getting 4 greens on their retail audit. this is the highest standards you can get. i have never seen any members of staff congregating on the table nearest the kitchen infact i would say they are constantly busy particularly overlunch times and weekends. however the staff will be allowed breaks and will sit and have something to eat so perhaps zigwad has got his wires crossed when he has wrote his comments.

this pub has completely changed over the last 12 months since the new manager took over. it is spotlessley clean. food is fantastic and reasonably priced and is always delivered within 10 mins. the management have worked hard to completely change the kind of clientel that come into the pub and its now more of a family and diners pub. the staff are really really friendly and always make you feel welcome and they also do a lot of charity work. yes the pub was ran very badly before and had a bad reputation but now since the new manageress has taken over she has done a really good job of turning things around, and if people did have a problem with the pub i am sure that she would rather be told to her face about it so that she could resolve the issue there and then in the pub rather than people writing lies on this website.

Full marks to the staff of "The Five Quarter" for achieving the holy piss pot of truly abysmal customer service.

You are made to feel unwelcome by the staff who congregate in the booth nearest the kitchen and clearly don't like their converstion bothered by customers.

The staff speak down to customers in a wholly unacceptable manner.

The food is slow and naff - if they got any of what you want left - and the staff haven't a clue about any of the drinks they serve.

The only positive thing about the Five Quarter is the toilets are clean.

Never seen a wetherspoons/multi storey car park combo b4, very strange! Very well kept pint of Elgoods though. 8/10

went with my brother for a drink..was ignored by the bar staff who were more interested in serving 4 happy hour punters and discussing cocktails drinks.
I am a local and avoid this place and although I like wetherspoon pubs this place is a poor excuse for a pub..

If you must go

When this place opened, I thought it would be a breath of fresh air for Peterlee.

Sadly, it hasn't lived up to its expectations of becoming Peterlee's premier night spot, and is, in my opinion, the black sheep of the Wetherspoon pub chain.

The service has declined to an unacceptable level, the food is naff, and the tables are always dirty and sticky.

There is reguarly a 30 to 45 minute wait for food.

Off duty staff socialise there, and the on duty staff pay them more attention than the customers.

Overall, very poor, especially for wetherspoons.

Gets very busy on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
Can be a bit entertaining on account of some of the local clientelle.
It certainly isn't the best Wetherspoons pub i've visited; The tables are often poorly cleaned and the service on the lower level of reasonable; However, a good pint, and reasonably priced.
Personal opinion? 5/10......
