Its a wetherspoons. we would have left it out of the crawl because of that but went in anyway. beer ok but service and customer base nasty. only 4/10 im afraid.

Have not been in this Wetherspoon's for a while and was suprised at the change in the whole pub. Wide range of ales avaliable two Adnams a Nethergate, Greene King Ruddles and Abbot and two christmas theme ales. served quickly and ale was good quality. Staff told me of an ale night the new managers have started every wednesday, the poster said and all the guest ales start from 1.69 a pint. Great to see a pub in the town doing something for real ale drinker's and that can offer a range as good as this.

Reasonable enough pub, which has a nice area around a real fire which is very attractive for a wetherspoons pub. Tried the Wolf Brewery Coyote, and this was of good quality. Decent pub.

Special offer GK IPA @99p a pint thats cheap if you like that sort of beer.

Better atmosphere than the Regal in Cambridge which is too bland at least the locals here are friendly and the beers are better in quality ..
One of the best pubs in town I would agree..

Oops! I meant Friday's visit.

In a very Greene King Suffolk Town, this was a very welcome site on Saturday. Ten hand pumps with six in use at the time. Most of the ale choices were fairly local breweries. The choice was Woodfordes Nelsons Revenge & Admirals Reserve, GK's IPA, Abbot & Abbott Reserve and Marstons Pedigree. Wolf Straw Dog was showing as available soon. The pub was large and had a very Wetherspoons feel about it. The service was slow and they did not have a clue who was next. The quick snack of a bowl of chips however came very quickly and was most welcome. During our pub crawl of the entire town's ale pubs we used this pub twice. We rated it in our top 3 of the town.

An old coaching inn in the High street has a good range of beers Abbot is a regular a place to go for a pint before the racing .Beer kept in good condition and food ok busy on race day especially Saturdays. One of the better Wetherspoons.

Not the most attractive of Spoons but a regular eating place and real ale has been very good of late - much better than the (few) other Newmarket CAMRA recommendations (Plough at Dullingham excepted)

Visited this pub a few months ago. Run of the mill Wetherspoons. Even there was no racing on the majority of customers were part of that fraternity. Don't think I can be bothered to return.
