Now a Yates - former Wetherspoons.
If I have the correct place this is now a Yates pub. It has a Wetherspoon type of menu but the range of ales has to be the best in Torquay. Ten real ales on offer mainly from Hunter and Hanlon at £2.50. Behind the bar there is a choice of ten cider/Perry's. Much better place than the Green Ginger Spoons along the road. Less commotion and more relaxed with a very friendly service.

large spoons with 2 bars, good selection of beer, good pint of hunters pale ale.
Went in here before seeing a show at the nearby Princess Theatre. Despite being very busy (first day of the Summer Holidays) the staff appeared to be on the ball and efficient. Nice selection of ales were on (all well kept), along with the cider in the festival being served in it's own section. I was warned to keep away from this pub, but I had no issues with it. I must have caught it on a good day.

Awful spoons full of low lifes food awful too
Usual Spoons, just looked in to see what was on the bar. 8 hand pulls with some great brews on. Didn't stop, had a bus to catch.

Visited last week. Huge pub. Not enough staff. One serving at the bar and one serving food and cleaning tables! Wetherspoons seriously need to decide if they are running a coffee shop or a bar! As soon as the barmaid starts making coffee all beer drinkers have to wait 5-10 minutes. Feel free to serve coffee but staff your bar for it!! Had a distinctly average pint of Exe Valley Devon Dawn. Would not visit this Spoons again. Shame! Average selection of Ales nothing interesting!

Still being described as a Lloyds No.1 which it isn't. Huge Spoons pub on the waterfront in Torquay. Eight pumps, always serving at least two local ales. Always a good selection of beers on. There is a second bar and further seating up a flight of stairs. One minor criticism is that there never seem to be enough staff behind the counter! Other than that this is a pretty good pub.
This is a Wetherspoons pub (not one of their Lloyds No1 bars) and has all the usual trappings. Beer was OK on our visit with Bays/Hunters and Exe Valley being available. Handy for the bus stops in the town centre and the harbour area. There is a Lloyds bar (The Green Ginger) in town further along the road - Fleet Walk - which also offers locally brewed beers. Service in The London Inn was a bit slow but it often is in a Wetherspoons when you are queueing behind a shipping order for food and kid's drinks !!!

Typically large Wetherspoons split across two levels with a bar in each. Not much choice in the way of Ales at the top bar, so if thats what youre after youd be better off getting your pint on the way in. Maybe thats why the barmaid at the top bar seemed a bit miserable.
Not that I had much more luck at the lower bar my first two choices were off, even though the pump clips had not been turned round. On appearances (not actual availability), the beers on this occasion were Ruddles Best, Bays Breaker, Mauldons Thomas Tipple, Abbot Ale, Daleside Spring Frenzy, Butcombe Blond and Culloden 1746. Ciders were Strongbow and the quite pleasant Marcle Hill.

I've used this place a few times, usually mid afternoon in the height of the holiday season, and I've allways had good beer food and service, when spoons do it well they are very good and in my experiance this is certainly one of the better ones, and seems to maintain a high standard
Was really impressed with both the beer and the staff in this Wetherspoons. Excellent quality beer served by pleasant friendly staff promptly.
An excellent Wetherspoons pub. Good, helpful, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. My only gripe is, why does the Guinness have to be served so freezing cold?
went in on a thursday afternoon in early october was very busy only called for one ok all busy plenty bar staff on and got served quickly
Typical Lloyds no.1 at a weekend. Unless you go into the pub in the early evening, it can take quite a while to get served owing to people flapping their gums at the bar instead of moving away to let others in. The ale was in tip-top condition though & the staff were helpful.

Ok for a lunch time drink. Beer is ok at the best. However great value food. It's a pity the standard of beer is not up with the food.
food was very good when we visited
OK 'spoons once you have fought your way through the chavs gathered around the front door for a smoke. Food surprisingly better than average but range of beers a bit disappointing.

Cheap booze & food; can get ridiculously busy, especially summer weekends; somewhat spoilt a couple of years ago when it became a Lloyds bar with the inclusion of video screens, music and a dance area from later evening onwards; still excellent value if you can cope with all of that.
Very clean Wetherspoon pub - very good manager not afraid to set and carry out high standards (gets stuck in !), excellent pint of Guinness. Worth a visit.
Not too bad if you arrive early or avoid weekends as gets very busy. Good choice of ales & wine. As usual damn good value. Food we had was very hot & plentiful with quick service.

came in here twice last week on family holiday, standard spoons set up, but the food was above standard for what you'd normaly expect from these places, ales were good
Well used harbour-front bar. Few cask beers on offer. seemed a bit old to the taste. Food looked ok. Standard wetherspoon menu. not really keen on this one.
Dreadful place, automaton staff and filled most of the day with those seeking the cheapest way to get drunk. No atmosphere and not a proper pub. Typical Weatherspoons - cheap, soul-less and grim.
