Uhmm.. Not too impressed. Looks fantastic from the outside and in prime location. Inside, there is a nice bar for drinkers and then a cavernous room for eaters - surprisingly complete with the only TV with the football on. So you get loads of fans at the bar, with everyone else eating underneath.
And the eating. Simple fare, reasonably priced but I just hate places that serve you food and then tell you where to find the cutlery and condiments. Surely its part of the experience to be given a knife and fork with your meal.
Interesting pint of Theaskston black mild. I hadn't read the smallprint.

It`s had a `refurb`, I couldn`t see the difference! Had Hopback Summer Lightning on..peachy! Menu looks better.

Looking at the previous comments nothing much has changed with this pub over the last couple of years. Good cheap beers, average grub, good service, nice ambience when it`s not full of noisy overactive `students`, sports on the TV...special promotions which make it cheaper than the JWD`s....all round recommended venue

The two room layout works well: smallish dark room up front for drinking and talking with the big room in the back for sports and food. Good prices. Can be full of kids at times though.

well i would like to say this is by far my favourtie pub, have been coming here now for a number of years.
it has excellent staff / management never any trouble great beer and reasonably priced all in all i cant argue.

Very nice pub with 2 bars, very large compared to what it seems from outside,a decent pint of tt landlord was quaffed, but was totally surrounded by pensioners , felt more like a coffee morning than a pub! 7/10

A nice pint of Timothy Taylors Landlod is kept here, the only other choice of trad. ale being Bass, and for an early evening or Sunday lunchtime drink the Masons is as good as anywhere in Solihull. Not an earth shattering statement I know. Litlle nooks and crannies and plenty of TV's in these corners that show Sky Sport, the antithesis of a good pub as my comrades in crime are concerned. I thought 2.20 was reasonable for a pint, and heartened when the barmaid remarked to a friends that they'd sold more Taylors than Carling. I celebrated my 21st here in....no let's not get into that.

excellent pub have been going here many many years. excellent food always cooked nicely and clean, very good chef. and so reasonably priced. good atmosphere very welcoming. excellent promt polite staff. all different age groups so you never feel out of place whatever age you are. this for me is the best of all pubs in solihull. thumbs up guys for all your hard work.

Surprisingly good venue given the first impression of youngsters coming and going for the music/dance area on the right - but they had really excellent beer (Black Sheep bitter), friendly and prompt service, the WI/Australian test match on (with no noise from the music area to interfere with it) and the crowd were friendly as well. Well worth a visit.

Not that bad a pub, with good beer from what I remember of it. And it has a attractive exterior.
|
Actually not a bad pub- and that tells you how bad the rest of Solihull is...it leads a strange double-life...one half of the place is a traditional pub, but walk through to the other half and it is scrote city and a disco venue!!!! It's not that bad as long as you take it for what it is- and they get a five because they often have Timothy Taylor's Landlord or another tasty ale and they are looked after ok...

Has had a new manager in the last couple of months and doesn't it show. Arguably the best pint in Solihull for kegged beers and the Bass is still kept well. The chav's of old have been greatly reduced although not completely eliminated. They now look out of place with the new gaffers music and door policy. Food is average pub grub at good prices. Where this pub really excels is major sporting events. The atomosphere in here for big football games or internationals of any sport can't be beaten anywhere in the town. It does get a bit crowded though so be warned

I used to like starting off here on a Friday night, especially in the summer (they have the heating on too, which is crazy!!!). Full of Timmy Chavs now, stripe, diamond type jumpers, gelled flat hair chavs, a few Vicki Pollards thrown in. They all congregate here, a massive shame. Go to to Rosies, your all welcome there!!!!

Not as bad as the below person in question has made Masons out to be! Far from it! A great place to start off on a Thursday/Friday night, good atmosphere, plenty of talent, good music, cheap drinks, shame it shuts at 11pm.

RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH terrible terribly terrible
100's of horny chav's thrown together in a rubbish venue to spill beer over each other and fight. Binge drinking at its worse, the Daily Mail would have a field day, the shame of a nation.
Really, its that bad.

Expect to see Chav United out in force in here. Bling Bling! Not a bad pub to start off in, but if you hate Burberry, Lacoste etc...........take my advice, avoid it.

Quality music and atmosphere here. Only things is it gets too rammed and you usually end up wearing your pint, so wear a dark shirt if you are planning a visit!!! Overall though, a good place to start of your night in Solihull. Shame it shuts at 11pm.
