Profile information

Living in Wrington, North Somerset with wife and daughter. Working as a business analyst (contractor).

We all enjoy good food and wine. Myself also good beers.

Often disappointed with the standard of food and service in many pubs. I don't believe that we are hyper- critical as we have a number of pubs that we can highly recommend - particularly on the Lizard in Cornwall.

Langford Inn, Lower Langford

Three meals on our visit. Skate was excellent with generous portion, meat pie good with pheasant rather tasteless. Starters were good.
The quality of food and extensive menu would have definitely brought us back. Very disppointing that the the wine was extemely poor quality, @ 14.90 a bottle we felt 'ripped off'.
Beers were good.

Overall disappointed that a good meal that was value for money was spoilt by apparently making a big mark-up on the wine list.

The Globe Inn, Wells

Visit this pub regularly on frequent shopping trips to Wells. Service is always extremely friendly and beer is well kept. Have never found fault with any of the lunchtime snacks / meals that we hae had over the past 5 years. These range from well filled large sandwiches (recommend steak & stilton, steak & onion).
There is an extensive selection of food choice - all excellent.

Have also been there for evening meals and have not been disappointed. Occasionally take my father-in-law there, with his wheelchair, and staff are always most friendly and considerate. A wonderful atmosphere - for me my favourite pub around Somerset.
