The Cuckfield, Wanstead

Pretty decent pub food, not sure I'd call it "Gastro" but they offer more than burgers and fish & chips. Skip the Sunday roast.

Service depends on how busy it is, the person behind the bar, and whether or not that person happen to be in a good mood.

I've always gotten fair to good service, but then again I'm polite. Never have gotten great service.

Went by last Saturday and the back door was open to reveal quite a large garden area... who knew they even had an outdoor area?!?!?!

The North Star, Leytonstone

Quite the hidden gem... lovely local crowd, nice (if small) back outdoor patio... would need more shrubbery to call it a "garden"

I love when find neighborhoody, back street boozers like this one. Kinda want to keep it a secret, then again, if it's not heaving sometimes, it won't be around to enjoy.

Lovely landlord and staff as well

The Globe on Morning Lane, Hackney

It is a lovely, privately owned local. At little out of place on MOrning Lane just off of Mare street... caught in cluster of modern buildings (like Tesco across the street) but, definitely a neighborhoody crowd. Darts, b-days, football, special occasions, drink specials...

There is live music Mondays, Fridays, Saturday (kinda loud and rockus) and Sunday trad jazz afternoons.
The last Wednesday of every month there is straight ahead, or modern jazz.

All in all, part of that well loved breed, PROPER LOCAL, a rarity these says
