As alluded to earlier this is a proper local, yet as somebody who lives elsewhere in London and was just stopping by, I found this a friendly and traditional boozer which might have been my own. Well worth a visit whether you live in Hackney or find yourself in the area for whatever reason. I liked the Boxing and other memorabilia on the walls giving an east end feel. Good location, and well laid out. The Doom Bar on tap was also very agreeable. I shall return. Richard_ReadingFC - 23 Nov 2012 09:35 |
Arrived here on a Sunday afternoon to find a lively atmosphere. The pub was busy and it appeared to be someone's birthday. Loud music was being played. It's a bit of a locals pub between Hackney and Homerton and was too noisy for my liking. Service was friendly and 2 ales - Doom Bar & Lighthouse were on offer. blue_scrumpy - 9 Jul 2012 20:25 |

It is a lovely, privately owned local. At little out of place on MOrning Lane just off of Mare street... caught in cluster of modern buildings (like Tesco across the street) but, definitely a neighborhoody crowd. Darts, b-days, football, special occasions, drink specials... There is live music Mondays, Fridays, Saturday (kinda loud and rockus) and Sunday trad jazz afternoons. The last Wednesday of every month there is straight ahead, or modern jazz. All in all, part of that well loved breed, PROPER LOCAL, a rarity these says Willsing4food - 16 Jul 2010 18:06 |
Don`t really know why i like this place so much. The beer is fine, no interesting choices however and there never seem to be any dolly bird barmaids. I guess it just fits my idea of what a proper pub should be like, friendly and unpretentious. Airwolf - 15 Feb 2010 12:52 |
