The Royal George, Deptford

One of the best pubs in Deptford, no question about it.
Great beer (if you dont like Sam Smiths then tough) - the bottled Nut Brown is the nectar of the Gods. Great surroundings - quiet (no crap over noisy juke boxes), just right for conversation, walls lined with books and curios. A real fire on freezing nights and lovely bar staff who bother to take care of you (supplying food when the drinking gets extended, and taxis when it gets late. Plenty of locals, all a bit crazy but friendly as anything. Some of the cooler 'New Deptfordians' starting to find their way here too, but no attitude. Just a pub the way a pub should be
Just shows you need to need to cautious taking too much notice of the reviews posted here. On the other hand we want to keep it a secret - so stay away!
