The Chequers Inn, Berrick Salome

Well popped in again, still great food and drink ' beer is very well kept'. I turned up for there Champagn Breakfast, they only do this at bank holiday time and it was marvellous, and a great start to the day, very well worth a visit.

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

Well I have past by a few time but have found the Pub closed, but I hear a new publican is coming, so I will await his arrival, till I have a handle on his performance running a country pub, rather than a restaurant venue.

The Six Bells on the Green, Warborough

Well it's all move again! The landlords off to try his luck somewhere else, so it was obiously, not working.
We await a new landlord, or return of the old! to see what happens...........

The Cricketers Arms, Warborough

Shame it's closed.
Choice has been taken away from this beautiful village, as the other! on the green, is no longer a real pub.

The Shepherds Hut, Ewelme

Not been in, but it's back OPEN, looks good and clean, from the outside, will have to make time to stop off sometime.
I've known this place since 1976 and it's many changes, so it's good to see it open again.

The Six Bells on the Green, Warborough

It's been six month since my last visit, and well it's not moved on, chef dosn't seem to be able to do all that's on the menu! worrying......... Where's the landlord gone? managers don't seem to care as much........

The Chequers Inn, Berrick Salome

Since I last wrote I have used this pub fequently with joy, it is one of the best, what they do, works, simple as that.
Staff and service is welcoming and freindly, nothing is to much trouble. They really have tried to integrate into the village life, with the Quiz night (Tuesday) and even early morning, Champagne Breakfasts at Bank holidays. All in all, Its an honest place to visit.

The Three Horseshoes, Benson

Having visited again a few months on from take over, It must be said as I have done before, new management want a resturant not a pub, shame for Benson folk because they lose out, an old pub distroyed, now stripped, and painted blandly.......... food over priced, ambience gone, but creditors have to be paid!!

The Gate House, Wallingford

There is only one good thing about this pub, it is, that it is right opposite the Wallingford Tandoori, which is undoubtably the best Indian Resturant in South Oxfordshire, I work in Reading and we make the trip every other week to this fabulous place, the Duck Shaslik is a dream......... don't take my word for it, try it yourselves........

The Chequers Inn, Berrick Salome

Called in again last night on the off chance, and it was Fish Friday - 6 different Fish meals on main menu and specials board.
Place! was full, and they keep cooking as long as there were people to be served, none of this stopping at 9pm lark, like others....... The Prawn Sizzler is magic on a plate.......
Once you have been and eaten, you get a 20% off your next meal on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thurday, better try this quickly, it won't last the way people are coming through the doors......... These people are really trying to be different.......

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

Its good but not as gushing as 'nigelbradford' paints, I've had good nights there, but the landlord is flakey his up and down all over the place, still roll on the Beer Festival, now thats a very good weekend............

The Red Lion Inn, Chalgrove

I'm a bit late posting this, but had St V night here, and it was staggeringly good, Raymond food & Suzanne puds super. The beers are kept very well with guest ales alway good to try, wine list is also very good, try 'GoatOnTheRoam' thats what I call it, I'll let you work out which one it is, very nice in deed.
Great atmosphere at anytime, what more can be said, Most Highly recommended, probably the best food pub in the area! even the water comes from Blenheim Palace...........

The Six Bells on the Green, Warborough

Well 'Stevebrt' I have tried the place again, as I travel around the local pubs, maybe it was my visit that made Glenn decide he was off to pastures new again after only a year, why's that then? another pub turned to a resturant, now left to fight it way back to being a pub again, look out Benson and the 3 Horseshoes, It will happen again! Still Stevebrt no doubt your'll be there.........

The Chequers Inn, Berrick Salome

New people 'Zak & Jenny' arrived about a month ago, settling in and get to grips with the place, good menu at very good prices. More like a pub now, great atmosphere when I was there, a must visit pub with food........ Try the Mussel large or small there wonderful..............

The Cricketers Arms, Warborough

Well, such a friendly place, the Fish'n'Chips were great, and certainly the best I've tasted for a while, albeit not coming with a glass of fizz! outstanding. The ales are also excelance, with a good wine list.
Very pleasent stop off, as I travelled through the area.

The Six Bells on the Green, Warborough

New tenants moved from The Chequers, Berrick Salome (in Aug08), new chef but same tired menu and ideas, well run but, nothing outstanding.
Very busy as they new tenant on the block, all in all just the same old thing in a different location. You would do better at 'The Cricketers' on the main road, a much more friendly pub...........

The Red Lion Inn, Chalgrove

New people really have worked at it! the best food pub in the area now............ always busy with lively people young and old.......... and you can't beat the setting, front garden and very large rear garden, sitting out side is as good as it comes, given the rain we've had..........
