The White Hart, Hook

Don't go on a football night - unless you want to feel you are on the terraces! The food is of a reasonable standard, good value, but somehow lacks a little imagination and could easily be out of a plastic container. The specials are a little more intersting. If you are hungry and thirsty you could do much worse, but if you have the time to plan ahead.....

The Blacksmiths Arms, Adversane

Excellent roast potatoes! Otherwise the food was fine and the service unexceptional - but I have had worse. The beer - Gales - was well kept and for a drinking pub this is a good place, but somehow the everything to do with the eating could just be a little better. Very characterful and full of history. You could do a lot worse, but there are better.....

The Foresters Arms, Graffham

A lovely traditional English pub nestling in the shadow of the south downs - roaring fires in the winter and a garden which I am sure would be lovely in the summer. Recently under new ownership/management, they have a small but interesting selection of real ales, nice wines and a reasuringly small but delicious menu of traditional country food. The staff are friendly, as too are the locals. It is a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the detour!
