Royal Oak, Dorchester

Went in for sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago had roast (deep fryed and dry ) chicken. It was so bad that I complained on the wetherspoons website and I had a pleasant letter from them saying that they would check it out and hope that I would find it upto the normal spoons quality as soon as. There is no way I will go back. I now go to the Thomas Hardy, good food, hot, and fresh.
Spoons in Weymouth is much better

The Nothe Tavern, Weymouth

Had a meal in here one evening, the polish waiting staff didn't quite have the hang of English .
Food overall was good but the saute potato and the chips were under-cookedapart from that it was O.K. will give a rating of 4 in the hope that it will improve in time.

Old Rooms Inn, Weymouth

Went in for a meal 15/11/07, waited 20 minutes
for the starter to arrive, the soup was advertised as "soup served with a fresh baked baggette", it turned up with 2 slices of white bread,When I pointed out the difference the girl said it was a new menu said she would see about it and never seen her again, then another 25 for the main to arrive. It was not anything unusual one was a salad and one gammon. That was after I asked how much longer it would be. I said to the person serving the food that the wait was unacceptable he said that he would get the duty manager, we ate our meal waited another 10 minutes no duty manager so we give up and left. You could not put it down to being busy there was only three other couples eating.

The Lord Wimborne, Poole

Have tried Witherspoons in Weymouth and they are good.
Walked into this place, with a bucket catching urine flowing through a hole in the celing, the two bar staff were over-worked, when we did eventualy get served we were told that the food would be about ten minutes, bloke next to me said don't believe it I've been waiting thirty-five minutes for Fish and Chips.
We made a mistake of sitting by the kichin door, the floor was filthy, the glasses were disgusting.
This is one pub that should be shut down and cleaned up, and decent manager put in.
As for the food it was the worst I've ever had. All I can say is that I'm glad Asda on the way out of town has toilets.

Please take my advice donot use this pub for food it is a danger to your health.

rating would be minus 5 if I could.

Yates's, Newport

Great. If you want to stick to the floor when you walk in. The passage to the toilets smelt like it had been used as a toilet, the food had no taste, colour nor did it look apealing.
We are sory that we ever went into this pub. The worst pub on the island, as it is part of a chain it should be of the same standard but this falls well below that.

The Bonchurch Inn, Bonchurch

All of what Greybags has said and even more, the service was the best, the beer was well kept and the food is out of this world.
And the walk down the meal after is healthy for you.

The best food on the Island.

The Turks Head Hotel, Chickerell

waited over twenty minutes to be served, nobody said order at the bar. Two staff more interested in what they done on day off don't go save time go to the Lugger about 10 minute walk away. Better food better service.

The Kings Arms, Stoborough

although very busy only 2 bar staff, they seemed to cope fairly well. Asked for two diferant veggie meals at about 7:15 on a Friday night they had sold out, had to settle for a chicken curry, (one local did sujest to eating the menu as "I would have more choice". That apart I ordered the curry for myself and my wife it was served quickly and it was very hot. For a mild curry it was full of flavour, and there was plenty of it , chunky chickin and a pleasant curry sauce.
Over all it was a pleasant meal and I would go back again.

Excise House, Weymouth

This must be a different pub that I have been to.
Thbar stinks of stale chip fat and urinal's.
The toilets in this place are discusting and they should not be allowed to serve food. The pub should be shut down and compleatly referbished and then people would use it again.

If you want good food and beer in hope square go over the road th the red lion BRILL pub.

17 Feb 2007 15:18

The Black Dog Inn, Broadmayne

17 Feb 2007 15:08

The New Inn, Cerne Abbas

Tried this pub after extensive advertising in the local paper and to be honest it was very poor, all the veg was microwaved the salmon was passable the vegatarian mixed bean with salad was only just warm.
Over all I think it was over-rated and there was a skin on the custard which had also been in the microwave.
Please ditch the microwave your food could be quite nice if it was cooked for your customers. We wouldent mind the wait.
