My penultimate pub of the day was this coastal hostelry west of Weymouth. It's in the current Good Beer Guide, which quite frankly surprises me. The solitary real ale was branded as Swan Ale, but is actually a Scottish beer - Caledonian Flying Scotsman. A pub on the south coast of England with no English ales seemed a bit odd. Nevertheless service was friendly and the pub was undergoing a bit of a refurb, with a large room containing a pool table being painted. The pub appeared to be popular with families and diners (probably as it was half term). Had to fight my way through dogs to exit. Not my favourite pub of the day.

The garden of this pub is being refurbished with some lovely decking. Nice affordable food and drink. The landlord welcomes dogs. Will definately be going back

Back again today after a 5-year gap. Still a reliable but not exciting place, with some good beers and some above-average (though slightly pricey) food. I said to the wife, "This is like very good pubs used to be in the 1970s". Better than the competition locally and worth a visit it you are in this neck of the woods. 7/10 (as in 2009). [By the way, the loos have just been rebuilt and are spotless.]

My boyfriend and I went to this pub with our whippet the week after Easter and werent expecting too much having seen some of the reports on this page. However, we were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. I ordered the rack of ribs which was massive with plenty of chips and a good sized salad garnish and the chef, having told me they had no coleslaw, actually went and bought the ingredients and made me some from scratch (I have to say this was the best coleslaw Id had in ages!!) The staff were perfectly friendly and were quite clearly happy to go out of their way to make us happy. We would definitely come back to this pub next time we visit.

Yes this pub could be alot better and it would'nt take alot to do it.
The landlord seemed miserable to me, must have caught him on an off day.

6/10
