The Fox and Hounds, West Witton

Certainly not fancy. Just a basic pub. It is the place to meet the locals. A friendly bunch. The beer has always been average when I have been there.

The Museum Tavern, Bloomsbury

I am again amazed by the appearance of "loads of obnoxious yanks". I have been using this pub for 20 years and, in fact, recommended it. I have in all that time seen perhaps 6 Americans and Canadians there. I certainly have not seen an obnoxious one. I wonder what an obnoxious yank is.

The Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton

This is my favorite place to stay in the Dales. Lovely rooms, the food is very good and the cosy bar is amazingly comforting. A walk across the street brings one to a more casual pub that has a welcoming group of regulars. I do not remember the name, but it a good place in the area for a little noise and fun. Still, the Heifer is top notch! It is an old building with a long history.

The Black Bull, Ripon

It has been a while since I have been there and I hope things have improved. It is a very nice pub, but had a very unfriendly staff. The beer selection was not large but it was very adequately kept.

The Castle, Nottingham

I have been in this pub once and would enjoy visiting it again. We were there in the early afternoon and it was clean and quiet. Just what we wanted at the time! There were some young, oddly dressed people drifting in as we left, so I assume we probably would not enjoy it as much when full and active. The new arrivals appeared to be looking forward to a good time. I hope they did and wish I were young again! A very nice and friendly place.
