Went here with my wife, parents and kids for my daughter's 3rd birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. The staff were great with the kids (who got baloons and a fluffy sheep each), there was a kids menu and the service was excellent overall. The food was great and the beer good too - Black Sheep plus a house ale from the local brewery. Not the cheapest food in the world, but you get what you pay for here. Very nice country inn and restaurant.

Ouch. Its a bit expensive.
It looks like a pub from the outside, but its more like a restaurant with a bar.
The sign across the road read seafood restaurant of the year, and when you get in the door there are many awards and press cuttings promoting the place.
Three real ales. I think 2 were from wensleydale brewery. Beer was good, but the place didnt have a pub atmosphere. The food was superb, cant fault it. 9 chips stacked.
Anyway, if youre a foodie with cash to spare this is the place for you. If youre Joe Bloggs looking for a pub and a pint keep driving.
Wifey loved it. I didnt 5.

I'm not a fish fan myself but my wife really enjoyed her meal. This is a very serious seafood resaurant with an amazing menu and a string of deserved awards. You are made very welcome and the service is excellent.
The local beer wasn't the best I had ever tasted but it was acceptable but this is not what the Heifer is about. If you love fish you will love this place.

This is my favorite place to stay in the Dales. Lovely rooms, the food is very good and the cosy bar is amazingly comforting. A walk across the street brings one to a more casual pub that has a welcoming group of regulars. I do not remember the name, but it a good place in the area for a little noise and fun. Still, the Heifer is top notch! It is an old building with a long history.

Not a pub, strictly speaking. Looks like they're trying to push the "Inn" aspect. Five different rooms to eat in, from family to formal. But has an amazingly homely, cozy bar area in the middle of it all with a fireplace and comfy seating. Had a decent Black Sheep and Old Speckled Hen. Famous vet and author James Herriot wrote about stopping in with his wife to eat on occasion. For couples, this is probably one of the only "romantic" places you'll find in the Dales.
