O'Donoghues, Dublin

Expanded garden bar has helped the nightly crowds.

ODonoghues, Dublin

Usually packed at night, but if you want local music fight through the crowds. the expanded garden bar helps the crowded nights.

The Long Hall, Dublin

One of the few _(10)ish old style pubs left to their past in a good way. Millwork, stained glass, snugs. with little in the way of modern shite! Great pours from the publicans.

Kehoe's, Dublin

Returned this summer and just as it was 4 years ago! A Fine old pub on a side street away from the Grafton noise.

Doheny and Nesbitts, Dublin

Great pub east of St. Stephen's just past O'Donoghue's and Toners. Great narrow long bar with snugs and décor fitting for this old pub. A larger bar in the back. Publicans are pleasant and pour a proper pint.

The Plume of Feathers, Greenwich

It's worth the couple of blocks walk up from Trafalager Road to find the pub!
Small, intimate front room with said fireplace. Friendly publicans to us Texans with our language barrier!?!
Sharps ale good and fresh. Large dining room in back with a beautiful patio area out back.
THX TP%F!

The Duke Of Wellington, Portobello Road

We were tourist and it was a Saturday and guess where we stopped? Yep, here. a fiver for a pint, ouch, the ale, just ok. Packed place, dirty dishes everywhere, us foreigners everywhere. One pint and way from this discord!

The Harp, Covent Garden

Just there last week! Still a great place to try many super ales! Love getting there 11:30ish and grab a chair in front of the open windows and sip our lunch time away!
Thx Harp!

The Lemon Tree, Covent Garden

Just tried this place a week ago! The Harp was jammed so off around the corner to the Lemon. New looks from the last visit two years ago. Doombar was good and the place is a nice alternative.
THX LT!

The Anchor Tap, Tower Bridge

A great pub oh so close to Tower Bridge tour exit that you must stop by! A Sam Smiths house that has a cosy comfortable fell to it. Nice publicans and fresh bitters and lagers on tap.
THX AT!

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

What a find! Love that it is in a row of buildings behind the new shite buildings in the area! Two sitting areas with bars on both sides. Comfortable is the feeling I got and wanted to stay for hours. Wife and I had the cheese toasties with Deuchars IPA which was good and fresh. Can't wait to return!
THX YOM!

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

Finally made it to this old pub. Didn't realise just how small and quaint the bar area is and it was perfect!! Wife and I enjoyed the downstairs snug/cellar area.
For a Sam Smiths house the decor has been left alone ie "old stuff" which my wife and I prefer. The Old Cask bitter was fresh.
THX CC!

The Palace Bar, Temple Bar

Great place.

Kehoe's, Dublin

Another pub not turned into a sport bar. the place was once a merchant store and most of its past is still intact!
Enjoy this pub just off of Grafton St.

16 Mar 2010 20:28

The Stags Head, Dublin

Best is that is one street off of Tempe Bar so it's hidden and a local boozer. The Stained glass and wordwork are exceptional, and the publicans pleasant.

16 Mar 2010 20:24

O'Donoghues, Dublin

Small, old, but publicans prompt and, Guinness fantastic! Courtyard has become a smoke house, so only hope is it's nice so you can go out back.

16 Mar 2010 20:20

Foley's, Dublin

Inside plain looking and a bit tired. Live music and across the street from O'donoghue's!!!

16 Mar 2010 20:17

McDaids, Dublin

First Dublin trip last week. Made it a point to find the 7 or 8 true, long lasting old style boozers.
Just off Grafton St. During the day we had a run at the place. Says est. 1779, and was used as the city morgue for a time. The Guinness in Dublin is so different than anywhere in the world I've been ruined!!!

The Mill Hotel, Chester

Stayed two nights. Full of business men/women. The vibe of the room is definitely a hotel bar and not a snug pub. The selections were many but only the "head" publican could comment on quality or taste of the cask ales. The jazz bands at night are a nice touch tho!

20 Nov 2009 21:59

Dog and Duck, Wellingborough

Has a slightly european atmosphere and funiture style but still a comfortable place. Wide range of dinner options and the pub side is run with friendly publicans. Only had John Smith's good tho.

Bell Inn, Stow on the Wold

2 of us stopped in on Market day. Quiet place typical pub/inn. Just had a picnic so didn't eat.

1 Oct 2009 20:15

The Victoria, Chester

Had lunch in one of the two seat snugs. It was busy with tourist and ale prices were higher than say the Bull or the Boot. John Smith was good in a clean glass. The meal was tourist typical bland.

1 Oct 2009 20:06

The Pied Bull, Chester

Almost at the end of the tourist run steet which make it much more enjoyable. Nice Tiger ale and another historic pub attached to the oldest inn in Chester. Good local feel to the place. Thx.

The Boot Inn, Chester

Great pub!! Plus is it's upstairs off the town center tourist run. Mostly locals making for nice peaceful conversations with real bloks. Bitters nice and smooth.

Ye Olde White Harte, Hull

Off the street through a passageway is pub heaven! A small courtyard fronts the entrance with windows filled with ornate stained glass. Inside left or right is matching bars and across the room huge fireplaces. Dark warm cozy and the best pint of ale we had in the three weeks over here. The Old Pecuiar was to die for!
Thx Hull for having this gem still here much of it untouch by modern shite!

The Harp, Covent Garden

Spent a week in London near The Harp. This was my everyday watering hole. Pleasant publicans and the cask ales fresh. Super nice feature is on pretty days the stained glass window fold open and a nice breaze flows through this small cozy pub.
A must visit place if you come to London.

30 Sep 2009 15:42

The Ship and Shovell, Charing Cross

A hidden gem in near the worst tourist trap pub in the world! Ship and Shovell is on both sides of the narrow passageway. Tanglefoot was spot on. More locals than tourist makes this a nice quiet place to enjoy a pint.

30 Sep 2009 15:37

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

Funny the tourist complain about toilets and other tourist. This place is an historic ale house. Enjoy the atmoshere of history with a pint or move on!

30 Sep 2009 15:35

The Snowshill Arms, Snowshill

Super quiet village and the only pub in town. Evenings this place fills up with locals and the pints are fresh and ribeyes steaks very good.

30 Sep 2009 15:30

The White Horse Inn, Beverley

Went there 9/05! Still an unchanged pub house wonder! Fresh bitter pints and full of locals having lunch. Thanks for having a true pub in this day and age.
Cheer's ya'll.

30 Sep 2009 15:25

The Monks Walk, Beverley

Went there 9/14. Opens later in the day, 5:00pm. Not changed much from the last visit except a pool table occupies the old back room.

30 Sep 2009 15:23

The Cornerhouse, Beverley

Best looking female publican I've seen in England! Nice pints of Black Sheep and the raised sitting area has hugh windows looking out onto a small courtyard.

30 Sep 2009 15:15

The Sailmakers Arms, Hull

Nice pub, quiet courtyard in front of pub great for sipping.

30 Sep 2009 15:00

The White Horse Inn, Beverley

Another historic site not destroyed or updated to some sorry sports bar type of establishment. For a Samuel Smiths house the ales where fresh and the publicans were kind to us "americans"! Can't wait to return here in September!
