Tweedies Bar at Dale Lodge Hotel, Grasmere

Nice to see a pub that isn't serving Robinsons or Jennings - definitely the best pub in Grasmere, though there isn't really much competition. Tucked away behind the hotel, the bar has a good range of beers available, predominantly from the local area (Abbeydale, Yates and Coniston last week) and the regulars seem up for a bit of banter. What more could you ask for?

The North Bar, Leeds

Not only a great selection of well kept beers and bottles from abroad but staff who are happy to shoot the breeze and get your order at your table if they're not rushed off their feet. Highly recommended.

Pivo Cafe Bar, York

Excellent pub with a great selection of foreign beer on draught and in bottles as well as a good selection of ales on tap. It has been called 'Pivni' rather than 'Pivo' for quite a while now, so this listing probably needs changing.

The John Bull Inn, Alnwick

Cracking pub, the best in Alnwick (sadly not a hard competition to win). A good selection of rotating guest beers, a massive selection of whisky and bottled Belgian beers, friendly locals, board games, no terrible music and a barman who is one of the politest I have met...and an annual leek growing competition. Well worth seeking out.

The Tanners Arms, Alnwick

Went in one damp night last week having started at the John Bull Inn (infinitely better). Two Northumberland ales on tap, both of which were decidedly badly kept, bar staff who didn't notice anyone was looking for a drink, and a clientle who tried their hardest to make non-locals feel as awkward as possible for existing. The fact no-one has reviewed this pub in 18 months is very telling.
