The Porter and Sorter, Croydon

The Porter and Sorter is the closest pub to East Croydon station and is usually fairly busy, especially at 5-6 pm with the after work crowd.
I think it got its name because it is close to the old royal mail depot.
It is a Marstons pub and the beer quality is usually ok, but I have had the odd dodgy pint. The pub seems to concentrate more on the food side. The staff are rushed off their feet.

The Oval Tavern, Croydon

The Oval Tavern is a traditional backstreet pub which features regular live music. It has a good selection of real ales and a large beer garden. It is only a few minutes walk from East Croydon station. The pub is also dog friendly, a bowl of water is usually available for dogs as are doggy treats.

The Spread Eagle, Croydon

The Spread Eagle looks great from the outside almost palacelike and is pretty good inside as well with lots of comfy sofas.
The Fullers beers are very good and the pies are excellent.

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

I like Youngs beers and the Dog and Bull keeps them very well. The pub has a very traditional look and feel about it and has a decent sized beer garden too. The food is fairly good too.

The Pawson's Arms, Thornton Heath

If you are looking for a good pub to visit before going to see a match at selhurst park then fry here. It is always a friendly atmosphere, but can get a little busy. The staff and the beers are very good.

Milan Bar, Croydon

The Milan Bar is on the site of the old Grants department store. Its beer is always quite good as it is a Lloyds bar. There is also a downstairs bar. It is one of my favorite pubs in the area.
