The Rydal, New Milton

A pub which caters for youngsters. So if you are not one then I would recommend not visiting. This pub tries to be something it isn't - a fun pub.Yes,the entertainment is varied but there is trouble here and they employ door men / security - which tells you something!

The Oak and Yaffle, Ashley

Don't know if it's shut but every time we pass the car park is empty - that tells you something!

Wellingtons, New Milton

Crap. The landlord seems to accept the dodgier clientele of New Milton who can't be bothered to walk to the Ashley Hotel.
Not the place to take your family and the regulars here are drinking until they can't drink any more.
Will not be back

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, New Milton

Don't agree with the negative comments here.Yes the drinks are expensive but the real ales are a good standard and the night I was there it was a friendly place with nice people - which is rare in other pubs in the town. The carvery seems well attended but the pub definately needs to have a re-vamp on it's decor. The restaurant is like being in your own front room!
Some of the staff seem to have 'half empty glass syndrome' and they could do with a standard uniform.Otherwise this place is probably the best in New Milton if you want a traditional pub in a safe and friendly atmosphere.

The White Hart, Lymington

Been back to visit.Traditional pub with great food.Deals on the food was nice to see and the staff were helpful and polite.
The day we went the quiz was on and it was fun to see the place fill up from 8.30 to 9pm when the quiz started. There was a friendly feel about the night and the music during the quiz was really good. The beer was a good selection and they even had a meat draw at 10pm.
Will definately be back next time in area!

The Hare and Hounds, Sway

Been back to see if it's changed.Still the same - unspoilt and glad to see the 'one-armed bandit'is now gone!
If there is one thing the pub should change though is the gents toilet. It is cold and it leaks around the urinals and the landlord should really upgrade.
Otherwise, the food is excellent and the real ales are varied and always to a high standard.Staff are friendly as are the locals.
Great forest pub to visit!

The White Hart, Lymington

The staff are friendly and food is good.Ales are presented well and it caters for dogs as well!
Monday in the week gets busy as it has a quiz but the eclectic background music makes the night go quick.
Overall the clientele varies and it has a friendly feel if some of the characters are 'weird'.
Who is that guy with the headphones who loiters near the bar, talking to everyone and laughing to himself?

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, New Milton

The drinks are expensive but what you get in return is a genuine original pub with a friendly clientele and friendly staff. The carvery is real good value and ales are well kept. The pub is more geared for the older generation which I found a 'rare find' in this town.Don't knock it....few pubs locally remain like this

Horse and Groom, Woodgreen

Once again booked in advance for the Wood Green fete day dinner-time and the food was better than previous visits. The Sunday roast was exceptional and friendly service was delivered by all of the staff who was on that day.The beer offered was well kept and overall this is a pub worth experiencing....look forward to our next visit

The Ashley Hotel, Ashley

Made the big mistake of going here with the family.Coarse language and dodgy garden dealing left us very uncomfortable.Apparently even dodgier at weekends. Will definately not be going back,a pity as it was once New Milton's friendliest drinking venue......

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, New Milton

Has slowly turned into a nice and friendly place to have a drink.Gone are the local troublemakers and it seems to be the place for the middle aged and retired to drink at ease.Went on the quiz night and found the atmosphere pleasant and bar busy.Only downside is the drinks are a bit pricey and the management have seemed to change the carvery deals too often. Also from the outside the restaurant looks like a goldfish bowl - especially when empty.Otherwise a good place to have a drink.....

The Waggon and Horses, Lymington

Nice friendly pub which seems unchanged.Friendly staff and good ale.Worth stopping in for. They also do a jolly quiz on a Tuesday night where the atmosphere is friendly.

The Old Barn, New Milton

Should never have been a pub!Maybe a restaurant but the place doesn't act like a pub. When we walked in everyone stares and locals are lined up each side of the bar area. There are some seats to the right and upstairs though.
If you like spending your evening in a barn then this is the place!
Haven't tried the food though.....

The Oak and Yaffle, Ashley

We've popped in a few times. Each time though the landlord and landlady was not that friendly.Maybe we caught them on an off night. They have a snooker and pool table in one bar which seems a bit odd.It needs a total makeover as each night we were in the place was dead - even weekends. If they can alter the whole style of the place then maybe the place will be busier. The surrounding area has so many potential customers.

The Rydal, New Milton

Ventured into what used to be my local a long time ago.Although busy as the only pub in the town centre, newcombers be ware! Not many seats inside and tries to be trendy but lacks in welcoming customers. When I visited the toilet there was dealing going on.Not even discreet.Atmosphere was very tense and we guess that having to put someone on the door then this place must have trouble. We didn't stay long as we felt uncomfortable.
If this place can get rid of it's bad clientele and clean up it's image then maybe it can get a better review.

The Red Shoot Inn, Linwood

We visit the pub from time to time and it is what you see...dogs,walkers,bikers and the odd local!Food is well made and quite prompt suprising the amount of orders! There is a dog area outside and beyond them the kids area towards the forest....not a bad idea! The Staff are friendly but are too busy to be personal.Ales are well kept and overall a well run and well liked pub.The only downside is the parking(a nightmare).Hey...what the heck...this is the New Forest!get out of your car and walk to this watering hole!!!

The Fox and Hounds, Bradfield St George

Went in for the first time with friends and booked a Saturday night meal.Locals were friendly and meal excellent.Bar staff friendly and our children were welcomed. The landlady even gave them some maltesers on leaving which we thought were a nice touch. The decor is dated and needs updating but otherwise a friendly local pub.

The Snakecatcher, Brockenhurst

Over-rated pub with a long narrow bar which we thought awkward-especially at the weekend when we there and had to push through to get into the pub.Drinks were good but overpriced as all Brock pubs seem to do in the Summer.Don't know about the food but seemed ok.Small but quaint pub garden right next to main road.Very noisy!

The White Hart, Lymington

This pub has BIGALAN commented quite rightly has having changed hands-much to it's advantage.Gone are the rough element and no attract decent clientele. The whole place has been done up to a high spec with the traditional fell kept. The food is excellant and staff helpful. The place always seems to be busy now and is like a 'tardis'inside with lots of nooks and crannies.Nice atmosphere and well run pub.

The Hare and Hounds, Sway

This has to be one of the New Forest's best kept secrets! We almost passed the pub but was well glad we chose to stop. This is a truly 'untouched' pub with a friendly landlord and cheery staff. The pumps are well kept and varied ale selection. The food was one of the nicest we've had on our stay in the area.
Downsides if any are the wait for a table weekends as it seems everybody in Sway frequents the place-especially on the Sunsay quiznight when we went. The quiz compere played original and quirky music with a witty and well run quiz. The winning team gets all the money and maybe this is why it was so busy. When we left the landlord made a point of wishing us a safe onward journey which we all thought was a nice touch.Top atmosphere and a night we all enjoyed. Will definately be back!

The Mayflower, Lymington

Very busy and lively pub with a lot of passing trade from the 'seagoing'variety. The staff are very helpful even though there is a quick turnaround of bar staff.
We went on the quiznight which was one of the better quizzes we've been to and it would be wise to book a table as they all seem to be reserved.Great food and well kept drink.
