Nice locals pub in quiet village, not really many beers on tap, 2 or 3 ales, couple of lagers. Last went down in the day for lunch - limited menu and the evening menu didn't look very inspiring. A shame as this used to be a good pub with a very nice restaurant!

This has always been a funny pub, lots of potential, nice decor, food is good, but like the previous reviewer said, the service has always been terrible, I've been there with work mates (with only maybe 10 of us in the party) and it's taken them an hour to bring us any food even though we'd pre-booked. Needs to be run properly!

Woodland Tavern, Llanvair Discoed
Always had a good meal here but probably not somewhere I'd go just for a pint, because its tucked away up the lanes a little bit. Really good food (usually have something from the specials board) and always good service. Shall be going back soon!

All you need to know about this place is that its a Wetherspoons, so you know the beer won't be great quality, but you also know that it'll be about 99p a pint! You know the food won't be particularly appetising (I had a pretty rubbish fish and chips there the other week) but you don't go there for fine food do you, you go for the beer and burger promotion thing!
The Bell Hanger is fine as a cheap pint with your mates but you wouldn't take your missus there on a date would you? :)

The Tan House Inn, Shirenewton
Rock and Roll loved at this pub! Smallish pub in Shirenewton with lots of photos of greats around the walls with silver/gold discs, always had nice food when I've been there, good, friendly service too, work a look if you're passing through!

The Golden Lion, Magor
Under new ownership, now owned by scottish family, looking good now with a changed/improved menu!
Much better than the average score, I give it a 7!
