Rendezvous, Weymouth

Dirty big pub only useful if you're desperate to catch a game on Sky Sports

The Boot, Weymouth

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this pub on 14th September. It's a proper old fashioned inn. Packed full of character and serving excellent ales and proper pub snacks such as pork pie and pickles for sharing. The poor barmaid was a bit rushed and needed some help but guess this is the sign of a popular pub. Landlord was friendly and so were the locals. The only problem you might have is finding a seat!

The Hope, Wandsworth Common

Had been to this pub a couple of times for a drink in the past year and because the menu looked interesting we decided to go back today for lunch. Wish we hadnt bothered what a disappointment! Sausage and mash in a pub seems to be one of those dishes which is either done extremely well or really badly with no in between. Unfortunately the Hope does it really badly (sausages baked in the oven for what must have been several hours as they were rock hard and congealed mash like wall paper paste) along with bad service and filthy wine glasses. It may be Valentines day but the pub was dead so no excuses! Wont be eating in there again.

The Mulberry, Chiddingfold

Recently had a meal at the Mulberry and also stayed in one of the three guest rooms that evening. The room was smart and tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and the bed was big and very comfortable with a luxurious feather duvet. The one downside was that although the lighting in the room was nice for creating a mood it would also be good if there was the option of some ceiling lights as well - at times the room felt gloomy.

As for the food in the pub it is very good but its punching above its weight on price. Ive had better in a gastro pub. The wine list was also a bit lacking and the run of the mill aperitif I asked for before dinner was unavailable. Also, the ice machine had unfortunately broken down on our visit which limited the choice of drinks still further.

All in all though a nice experience.

Charles Holden, Colliers Wood

Some friends and I spent an evening in the Tup about a month ago. The beer was overpriced and the food was so bad we sent it back.

Last night we decided to give it another go but unfortunately the place seems to have got worse rather than better. The choice of beer is really poor and to make it worse it will cost you 3.80 for a pint of Heineken! (That's more expensive than the beer I bought in the West End the night before).

Don't bank on being able to get a quick round in. If you want to be kept waiting at the bar while the staff serve all their friends first then it is definately the place to go. We tried the food again and wished we hadn't. It was both cold, tasteless and made fom cheap ingredients. - If I were a member of staff I'd be embarassed to serve it.

I wouldn't go again - I am open minded but the Tup had it's second chance and blew it! I would rather spend my money in a place where the staff make you feel welcome.

The only good thing about this pub is the large back garden. If you can afford the beer to sit in it that is.

The Mulberry, Chiddingfold

I enjoyed my visit to the pub. Was looking for somewhere to eat and found it by chance. We new it was an Evans pub though so thought we'd give it a go.

It was a bit quiet but it was half six on a Monday night so should say thats normal. We found the food to be really good with a great choice on the menu but it was a little expensive. Nice surroundings and friendly staff. Was quite impressed with the 50% donation to CHASE
