The Bloomfield Inn, Arno's Vale

Currently being run by a "Holding Relief" manager following the departure of the previous tenant. Not a great place nowadays since the local "banned" people were allowed back in. Loud music and youngsters congregating out the front. Stan Barrett must be turning in his grave!
Bloke running pub now banning people by "Proxy" off the premises!

Brislington and St. Annes Conservative Club, Brislington

Better call in here soon. Pubs in Brislington are disappearing.

White Hart, Brislington

Gone.
Closed.
Dance School.

8 Aug 2012 19:21

The Kings Arms, Brislington

Like Talbot Hill says... Lost the plot here!

8 Aug 2012 19:21

Pilgrim Inn, Brislington

Just arrived back in the area...

Why is the pub closed on a Saturday night?

The Bloomfield Inn, Arno's Vale

Called in here last week and beer was rank. What's going on here?
tellthetruthbloke has it sussed... place needs a kick up the ass and certain people that continually praise the place have lost the plot. Filthy glasses and naff beer. Canned guinness - what's that all about?

25 Aug 2010 20:03

The Good Intent, Brislington

Called in here to see a mate and did not bother staying. It looks like all the yobs that were using the place before the troubles and eventual closure are back in (minus a couple of notable exceptions - Holiday Camp types).
I'll certainly be giving this place a miss while the football is on and more especially if England are playing!

I was wondering what "Tubbs & Edward" looked like, so I decided to call in. No Blackthorn, just cans of Natch or Thatchers Gold in Bottles. Someone in the lounge was complaining that the beer and lager have run out this week, so does this mean there are problems or a really busy pub at other times in the week?

Went here to play skittles.

Bar prices are not a lot cheaper than the other pubs in the area, so I guess the members are paying annual subscriptions for not a lot in return? Butcombe bitter was OK, but the Bass was far too cold, with lots of condensation on the glass a matter of seconds after it was poured.

There's Blackthorn cider (the Thatchers Dry at the Sandringham is cheaper) and you can wear shorts there. We were told before the game that shorts are not allowed here. If they can afford to turn grown adults with cash in their pockets away, then good luck to them.

It looks the sort of place where you'll get told off if you sit in the wrong chair. The old lady inside the front door looks like she runs the place, telling everyone what to do and where to go as soon as you walk in the door. Is it Maggie Thatcher in disguise?

The Sandringham, Arno's Vale

No sign or the Redcoats when I called in this week, but there must be something going on as there are new CCTV cameras in the garden. Big Brother must want to know what's going on?
Cider was nice though, and the Thatchers Dry is a lot better than the Blackthorn. Lots of former Bloomfield drinkers in here now... wonder why?

New bloke in charge, or is it the same regime with another name?

It's now a Holiday Camp - Red Coats included, and we all know where they come from and the name of the campsite!

If this carries on, it'll be the Pilgrim all over again and possibly end
up the same as the Good Intent as well?

I see Talbot's been here too? Bass is cheaper down the road.

The Sandringham, Arno's Vale

Went in Sunday and the old mob that were in the Pilgrim were in here again. Good Intent must have kicked a few out, as they were climbing over the garden wall to get in without the landlord seeing them.

The Good Intent, Brislington

Well, driven past a few times this week and as before, the same old faces standing in the doorway of the bar. Better off in the Pilgrim or the Sandringham I guess?

The Sandringham, Arno's Vale

Called in last weekend and found some of the Pilgrim crew have moved in here. Atmosphere felt a bit heavy, so stayed for a pint but left after that and went into town on the bus.

Starting to see a pattern here.

North Street Bedminster/Alma Vale Road Clifton attitudes towards the locals, who are not the yuppies that frequent those places. I got the impression that the way I was talked to (or not as was the case) the staff had the thought that I would, perhaps, go away and sit in a corner? Was I of a lower intellect perhaps?

Like the other reviewers have said, a bit of "Please & Thank You" would help, but if they are going to have staff that are, or appear to be "aloof" to the customers, they'll go elsewhere and take their money with them. With beer at 2.80 a pint and very expensive wine, I guess the people will vote with their feet?

Remember. It's not all that many years ago that Brislington was in Somerset. We certainly 'aint in Clifton or Southville! I doubt very much you'll get a late pint here either?

Now got Abbot Ale @ 5% ABV.

Courage Directors on guest beer pump and only 2.20. More guest beers listed on the notice board.

It's cold outside and even colder inside the place. It's getting a bit local in the back bar since the Pilgrim changed hands. Cans of natch and pints of scrumpy everywhere. My mates have started using the Langton Court, like the darts team, pool team football team etc. Like on League of Gentlemen, a local pub for local people? (They've even got Tubbs & Edward behind the bar)

Bocabar, Bristol

Went in here after sampling "Brislington's Best" pubs. This is OK, but aimed at the trendy types that live in the Totterdown area. A tad on the expensive side, but at least it's somewhere where you don't have to keep looking over your shoulder?

3 Aug 2009 15:47

White Hart, Brislington

Got a half tidy pint here after trying the other pubs in the area, but this aint no oil painting. "Sorry No Food" on the wall in the lounge, not a lot of anything in the other bar. Looks like the place has been stripped. What are the boots screwed to the cieling all about?

3 Aug 2009 15:40

Pilgrim Inn, Brislington

Take a deep breath before you go here. I tried it once and won't be going back in. Phil Mitchell lookalike landlord, no proper beer, dodgy looking customers etc. Brislington's not got talent here.

Where shall I go next, cos' I won't be going here again!

3 Aug 2009 15:35

Hollybush, Bristol

Never mind being built, they're built and well occupied!

3 Aug 2009 15:30

The Kings Arms, Brislington

Can't figure out when this place opens?
Went in for a pint in the afternoon and the Aussie woman behind the bar didn't seem too bothered whether I was there or not.

Probably a "Local Pub for Local People"? Ahem!

3 Aug 2009 15:28

The Knowle Hotel, Knowle

True about the piano player stopping when you walk in the door. Lounge is nicer though. Walk down the hill to Brislington I think?

3 Aug 2009 15:25

The Black Castle, Arno's Vale

I tried the other two pubs nearby, Bloomfield and Sandringham which were a bit naff and this aint much better. Fizzy beer, can't wear a hat, lary tatooed bouncers on a weekend and bar staff that are asleep.

3 Aug 2009 15:21

The Bloomfield Inn, Arno's Vale

Saw the other reviews and gave it a try. Beer is OK, but getting served was a problem cos the bar staff keep disappearing outside for a fag.

27 Jul 2009 11:23

The Sandringham, Arno's Vale

Don't like the look of the people hanging around the front door smoking and throwing fag ends onto the pavement. What is it like inside?
I carried on and went to the Black Castle!
