Unfortunately, the other reviewer got it a bit wrong on the Real Ale.

Draught Bass is at the far end of the main bar served from a "Mirror Box" keg-style tap, transported via a "Flowjet" pump.
But it's Real Ale and they get through best part of 4 x 18 Gallon Barrels a week of the stuff. "Flat Bass" as it's supposed to be in the Bristol area.

Courage Best is, surprisingly, a Guest Beer and is likely to be changed in the near future.

A basic, no frills, Victorian boozer on a corner plot in Sandy Park Road, it is quite a large establishment and includes a skittle alley as well as a couple of good sized bars.

The main bar is a basic affair in a sort of staggered L-shape, with old green carpet on the floors, rough plasterwork on the walls and an old brick fire-place to one side. A notice board advertised a Sunday meat raffle which always strikes me as a sign of a proper local’s pub, and in addition to that there were a few local photos on the walls. There was some old bench seating around the perimeter and plenty of red chairs.

A few TV’s were dotted around, many showing sports channels, but the volume was off and this was not intrusive. A number of fairly light were strung up above the bar and there was a darts board at one end. I think there may also have been a few more darts boards in the above bar, although we did not investigate this.

Beer choice was a little disappointing with Courage Best being the only real ale on. Ciders were Thatcher’s Dry and Thatcher’s Traditional.

The Sandringham management changed a couple of weeks ago and is now being run by Dan & Danny, two local lads with experience of running the place.

One noticeable improvement has been the consistency of the beer and especially the Draught Bass. They report that last week, the Bass outsold the Cider! Considering this is now the only pub/club in Brislington now selling Draught Bass, it is well worth a visit.

Courage Best @ 2.50 bolstering the already excellent Draught Bass and this is now the only Pub in Brislington selling it.

I bumped into someone today and they said that the Bistro up the road is a lot better than the Sandringham and that locals prefer the bistro style establishments like you get in North Street, Bedminster.

Do you go in the Sandringham I asked. No was the answer. Get rid of the Cider was another comment they made.

Spending an hour stood at the bar earlier this evening, one in five was drinking apple-derived alcohol. The rest were drinking everything but, including the excellent Draught Bass at 2.60.

In reality, it takes thirty minutes to give a pub a reputation that lasts thirty years!

Bottom line is its a great pub and has all the facilities nearby the other pubs in the area lack. Good Pub, nice people and a good night out!
