The Sir Humphrey Davy, Penzance

This St Austell brewery pub is now closed and has a For Sale sign up.

The Star Inn, Penzance

The Star is currently being refurbished. There's a worrying demolition warning sign up, and I have heard reports of great big bits of granite being shifted. So maybe is being completely stripped inside. Owned by Star Pubs now, which is part of Heineken.
Spent a few good weekend hours there in the lower bar in the past, watching the rugby amongst an enthusiastic crowd; beer was always good.

The First and Last, Penzance

Landlord may be an acquired taste (Lewes accent, actually) but he knows how to keep his beers, I have NEVER had a bad pint in here and he has provided a range of interesting ales, local ones and from further afield. Food is all home cooked, and the landlady is completely charming to balance her husband's occasional naff jokes.
I really hope whoever buys it keeps it as a pub, and keeps it a good local boozer.

Lamorna Wink, Penzance

Was in here yesterday after a thirsty walk along the coast path. We were drinking the house beer brewed by Skinners, Lamorna Bobby, named after the late landlord. Ale was in good nick and they also had Betty Stoggs. Lots of trade, locals and visitors. No food, as the kitchen is now closed ("and that's one thing we don't have to worry about any more" as the landlady told most customers.)

Yes, the pub has been sold, the new owners move in on 15th May. I hope they manage to keep the charm, and good ale, while they tart the place up. Would hate the Wink to become another poncy gastropub with sky high prices and no atmosphere.
