The Blacksmiths Arms, Broughton Mills

Superb pub! A big white farmhouse with 4 foot high ceilings and wonky walls. Locals are in evidence, making it all the more appealing, its not just some overpriced gastro pub serving tourists.

Food surpassed expectations. Brilliant.

(NB, limited parking).

The Prince Albert, Angel, Islington

Nice little boozer, only a few minutes from the overpriced hubbub of Upper Street. Table skittles, Philosophy nights, jazz nights etc... Terrific!

The Bishop's Finger, Barbican

Nice little boozer, lots of city types winding down after work. Got a big room upstairs with lots of sofas and tables you can hire for a private party too.

The Dragon, Hoxton

Quite a nice bar. Small, got some sofas downstairs. Definitely grungy - graffiti'd loos (deliberately), pierced, foreign, friendly bar staff, good music. Good for a slightly off the wall drink, or maybe hire the place out for a party.

Shame the upstairs is so "thin". If you're at the bar you constantly have to move out the way of other people.

Jay Cubed, Angel, Islington

Groovey pub, varies wildly between calm nice place with big leather sofas for chilling out, and crazy full party time.

Always good music. Open late, so good to remember if you're in the area and the Elbow Rooms won't let you in. This place is much nicer anyway.

Bangers, Broadgate

A classic old mans pub with tankards. Sawdust on the floor, classic. Does good dinners too, good for team lunches xmas dinners etc...

BE WARNED: The tankards leak. No really.
