Rubicon Bar, Surbiton

Well PunkRockBee, you do sound like a pleasant girl....please make a point of introducing yourself next time you are in there....
Anyway, I have only been here once, last weekend in fact, and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening! However, 2 reviews below mention Warsteiner on the bar....It was Bitburger and Paulaner Wheat when I visited! Both of which are wonderfully unique beers and won't be seen in many places in Surbiton or surrounding areas! Nice laid back atmosphere and not what you would expect located in Surbiton amongst all of the chain pubs and bars.

The Pot Kiln, Frilsham

Ate here a couple of months ago for a family members birthday and had a wonderful evening. Ale was in fine fettle and how refreshing to see just 1 non-branded lager font hidden away on a corner! Food was absolutely outstanding, yes it was expensive but if you choose to eat at a celebrity chefs "place" then you should expect this. Full credit for trying to keep a local drinkers bar also - not easy considering the size of the place.

The Cricketers, Horsell

This is my local since moving about a 5 minute walk away and I have to say it satisfies my needs entirely! There is a huge garden, huge portions of food and Adnams Broadside permanently on the bar... and a bar manager who knew what i would be drinking on my 3rd visit!!! what more can you ask for!!?

The Harp, Covent Garden

I agree with Aleking to an extent... however...a place needs to be sufficiently busy to justify turning over such a wide range of ales!!! Without the people coming through the door and ploughing through the ale this would be your bog standard pub struggling to sell a firkin of London Pride!!! Admittedly it is tight on a busy night but without us ale drinkers cramming the place it would be another bog standard tourist hole selling Fosters as its "premium offering"!

The Garibaldi, Knaphill

Visited this place on the way home from work for a cheeky pint for the first time in yonks this week. Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and appearance of the bar. Had a pint of Harviestoun Schallalion (probably wrong spelling...but try pronouncing it!) and it was in peak condition. There were couples and tradesmen alike enjoying drink and food. recommended.

The Old Bear, Cobham

Very pleasantly surprised at the change around. The riff raff that used to frequent this lovely pub have been driven awat by the fact the new owner is offering excellent quality food at very reasonable prices, serving good beer and realising the potential that this huge pub offers.

The ubiquitous Adnams Broadside was in fine fettle as was Adnams Bitter. They also had a guest beer which I hadnt seen before.

All in all I had a very pleasant evening with great food and ale ..... I thoroughly recommend this place to first timers or to people that have not visited for a long time and are looking for a great pub in Cobham (not easy).

The Black Swan, Martyr's Green

Whilst this pub is no longer serving the widest range of ale in Surrey...it is serving very high quality, consistent ales which are always in peak condition due to the fact the tubs are probably changed every other day.

The food is pricey but well worth it in quality terms.

The management all seem very friendly on the half dozen times I have visited and despite the "gastro" feel it is still very relaxed.

If you want oldy woldy then go to the Hautboy or any other country pub in the area....if you want modern, good food and consistent ale...go here.

The Royal Albert, St Mary Cray

Any pub that has signs plastered all over the doors and windows stating "STRICTLY REGULARS ONLY" deserves to be closed down. The place is a hole.... rest assured nobody other than locals would want to step inside this toilet.

The Grantley Arms, Wonersh

Ate here with last night with my family (table of 8) and we were all mightily impressed with the food despite waiting an hour and a half!! Admittedly the place was rammed to the rafters but this is still too long.

However, I went here to sample the range of ales all other reviews mentioned. I started with a pint of Summer Lightning which was fine but upon returning found out they had sold out so I switched to 6x which again was fine only to find out they had sold out of that as well on returning to the bar! I then switched to Horsham which again was very pleasant but surely on a busy Saturday night you arm yourself with the necessary staff/ale to cope with demand?

The Bree Louise, Euston

Not sure about the last comment by topdog but I drink here fairly regularly and have never had a bad pint of ale yet despite the landlord keeping a great choice all year round... one other thing topdog, do you mean Adnams Explorer or Fullers Discovery?! By the way, the homemade pies are the dogs danglers.
