The Three Horseshoes, Cranleigh

A true traditional English village pub. Always a warm welcome in either saloon or public bar. TV room at back showing sports events, and a quiet and well kept pleasant garden out at the back, also some seating outside at the front. Good food available but check the times, not all day food. During winter weather open fires in both the bars. Very cosy. Dog friendly, with water bowls left out and dog biscuits at the bar (10p each to charity). Ask the bar staff to replenish if needed.
The landlord really knows his real ale and keeps it very well. Several normal house bitters available, including one very local micro-brewery, plus a couple of interesting guest ales, covering the spectrum from "session" to "strong". Also, for those who prefer lager, there are several available.

The Ship Inn, Weymouth

A nice pub in a beautiful setting overlooking the Cove. Well cared for beer, although Hall and Woodhouse is not my particular choice for flavour. Excellent food, great service, atmospheric interior. Free wifi for your forecasts.

The Castle Tavern, Gosport

Well, they got new bar staff now. All young girls and all very pleasant and helpful. Food is of good value and quality. Adnams and Doom Bar, well kept. This is an unpretentious pub that delivers. Good beer, good food, good and pleasant service. If you are in Gosport marina it is left out of the marina gate, about 20 yards. Free wifi also, rather than the Spectrum available in the marina at 6 or 7 quid for 24 hours. Check your forecasts here.

The Cherub Inn, Dartmouth

A most interesting building, worth seeing in its own right. 6 different ales to choose from, and the two that I tried were well kept. I had intended to eat there, but changed my mind. This pub is best left to the locals. I felt more like an irritation than a valued customer.

The Globe Inn, Weymouth

My first visit this year, but have used it for several years when visiting Weymout. As others have said, a good old fashioned local, friendly regulars, pleasant staff. Any appreciator of good hand drawn bitter will be spoiled for choice here. I had an excellent couple of pints of Doom Bar, but there were four or five others to choose from.

It's the nearest pub to the Custom House Quay, if you're visiting on a boat, and the wifi is free and very fast and reliable.

The Sussex Oak, Warnham

Met some friends here for lunch and it was a good choice. Extensive menu, full meals or lunchtime/lighter menu available. Very pleasant service. We only had soup and sandwiches, but it was all very good.

I had a very nice well kept couple of pints of Timothy Taylors. Also available were London Pride, Harveys, Shere Drop plus a couple of others I didn't recognise.

All very good.

The Jolly Sailor, Burseldon

I was in the area with my daughter, and lunchtime called. Delightful setting, and I am sure it is beautiful in summer. This winters weather meant there was no pressure on tables or service, and everybody who dealt with us was very pleasant and efficient. My daughter had a pint of orange and lemonade, allowing me to have a very nice pint of Badgers. We were both displeased with our sandwich for lunch, which in fact came in the form of a roll. Too much bread and too little filling. The price for two drinks and two sandwiches was a little over £22, which I thought would be excessive even if we had enjoyed them.

I worked out that it is almost exactly 40 years since I last visited this pub. If I will be in a position to re-visit it in another 40 years time it will only be for a beer and not for lunch.

Cullins Yard, Dover

I agree with the previous and also give it an 8. My first visit this year, and it is as good as ever. Friendly and efficient staff, well kept real ales, good food from a varied menu.

Previous comments re price/riff-raff ratio are correct and I cannot imagine any trouble here at all.

Free wifi, large and well kept outside area when the weather warrants, and an interesting pub interior with a slant towards the nautical history of the yard.

Very good, will visit again when I am next here. It is also the closest pub to the marina if you are visiting on a boat.

The Harbour Inn, Lowestoft

A well organised pub with a friendly welcome and pleasant efficient staff. Just now they are serving a well kept pint of Adnams, but my visit was mid May during a sustained period of cold wet weather so the whole town was quiet. They have six pumps available and I am sure once turnover increases they will have other beers to try.

Good food from a good and varied menu.

Lorne, Oban

As an early evening pub user I found this pub perfect for my requirements. Draught bitter available, Deuchars IPA, in a part of the country where this is not often seen. Very friendly welcome and efficient service from all staff I dealt with. Food excellent and good value, haddock and chips a must-try. For those that want it there is noise available Fri to Sun till 2am, DJ or live band.
