Lovely pub. Friendly locals and staff. Food is lovely. We go to this pub every few months for a meal and the food is always lovely

Local to me but would rather drive to another village then drink here all the time.
Went in here for a drink at the weekend as we wanted a pint without having to drive. Staff unfriendly and waited ages for a drink. Toilets dirty.
Shame as its in the heart of the village so it would be nice to walk to a local village pub and have a nice meal and a few drinks and be able to walk home. Surrounding villages manage it.

Bring back Bob. Pub is not the same now.
I have been drinking in this pub for about a year. It WAS a lovely pub. Not now. Only some friendly locals go in there now. and i dont blame the others for not going in there. It looks a mess. Not as clean as it was and looks unloved. Have seen people returning meals. This pub was the heart of the village but not now

Lovely pub, lots of character, lovely position considering how close to M25 J4(no noise). Horses grazing near by. Food excelent with average prices. Graham (Landlord) & wife always make you welcome. A very easy place to just stop off for a pint or an evening out with the Mrs for a meal.

Nice friendly pub - staff and locals. Beers good with guest beers always on offer and changed regularly. Garden nice. Plenty of activities mentioned by staff and locals-darts, bat & trap,Quiz, pool many of these used to raise money for local charities. Will certainly go back when passing.

We visited this pub today as a treat for my gril friend coming from swanley after a activity in the area - wanted a nice character pub with good food and hospitality, only got the character!!! By the end of our 1 hour visit people asking for money back, food not available even on menu/black board and after ordered. Very expensive for what you got, �1 for nuts (standard packet of Tavern) �4 for a small bowl of olives with 4 very small pieces of bread, �3 for small bowl of chips. The young barmaid done her best we feel but was let down by very very bad management and organisation. Would i recommend it, NO!!! the only thing we would recommend is STAY AWAY!!! Shame honestly, lovely character.

The Cock Inn, Halstead
Thank you Bob & his staff for taking over this pub. It is much cleaner & brighter then it used to. It looks like the locals have followed Bob from the Rose & Crown to his new pub and i can see why. Good luck Bob
