The Kings Head, Lichfield

An ancient pub where great entertainment rubs shoulders with history and comfort, all washed down with arange of quality beers and lagers. Open mic every Friday and there's an acoustic night that runs every month, (I think)on a Wednesday. (I think!).

The Rainbow, Birmingham

Nice try, everyone. All the below comments are posted by people that run nights there...

Adam and Eve, Digbeth

Digbeth's most dedicated music venue. Brilliant bands, great sound, freindly staff and big portions of food make this a cut above the rest. appleacoustic acoustic sessions make it worth going out on a Monday for! They've recently had songwriters up from London to play, which I think is a first for an acoustic nihgt in Birmingham. More of this please!

One Trick Pony Club, Moseley

The Irish McDonalds of pubs, made only worse by the absence of the Pound Saver menu. Anywhere in Moseley is better than this.

The Jug Of Ale, Moseley

This is the loudest pub in Moseley. If you want to talk-forget it. Upstairs bar only sells pints, and Carling at that. And you have to form an orderly queue to get it. What the pub lacks in beer quality, it makes up for in terms of music: A policy of top Birmingham indie bands, and bands on the rise playing the Jug for their Birmingham venue, while touring. Promoter Arthur Tapp has run the indie music scene from this pub for the last 12 years or so. He also supports Birmingham label Bearos, and organises nights for them here.

The Prince of Wales, Moseley

The best pub for conversations in Moseley. (ie no music, comfy chairs.) Bar, 2 lounges, (one is non-smoking) and a big beer garden. Good ales, great bar staff. A favourite of mine since 1989. In fact while writing this review I fancy popping in for one later today. The sun is shining, and spring is great! The only drawback can be overhearing the blandest conversations between wooly teachers/social workers talking shop.

Goose At The Fighting Cocks, Moseley

This pub used to be a haven for punks in the late 80's-early 90's. Various chains and poor management have turned it into the 'Pound Shop' of Moseley boozers. Having said that, it's good to pop in for a drink when you're on your way to other pubs to take advantage of cheap booze. Boys-You'll never pull in here. Girls-You are never there.
