The Maltings, York

3 days in York. Visited the maltings everyday. Why ? Cos it's great. Excellent choice of ciders and a range of characters. Clean and friendly. What more can you ask ?

The Corner Pin, York

Re visited as went with other people on Tuesday who didn't fancy eating. Having eaten here before returned next day as we really fancied the beef stew and dumplings. WHAT A MISTAKE !!!! The stew contained one solitary dumpling and the whole thing was dense in salt and could have been eaten with just 4 spoonfuls. Never felt so cheated. Paid £12 pounds for 8 spoonfuls of salty slop. Only had strongbow cider on tap as well. Was my second favourite pub in York. No longer. Won't be returning.

The Salutation Inn, East Looe

Very good pub. Favours dogs over children. 10/10 for that alone

The Ship Inn, East Looe

Great pub. Very friendly staff.
Made to feel very welcome by Fergal and Alison behind the bar. Food excellent Previous comments obviously made by an idiot who cannot even spell lasagne

The Fishermans Arms, East Looe

Great comment below
I love the place too. I am also an emmet but hope to live in Looe one day and this pub is the same as it wa 30 years ago when I visited as a child apart from you cannot smoke anymore

The Snickleway Inn, York

Bloody marvellous pub. If in York find it and go there. It even has the odd tv celebrity frequent it. Please post which famous person you have seen in there. I saw Harry Gration

The Old White Swan, York

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.
I had steak and ale pie that needed a chainsaw to cut through. My wife had pea and asparagus risotto which was very nice but if she had been looking forward to the asparagus she would have been most disappointed. There were peas, broccoli, broad and green beans but not a whiff of asparagus. If they had said in advance that would have been ok but they didn't.
We would definitely not eat here again.

Lifeboat Inn, St Ives

I used to like it but now its a creche
Went in this week and it smelled of puke. Why do people take their kids to a pub when they are just babies
THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED BUT ARE TOO THICK TO CARE!!!!!!

26 Sep 2009 22:20

Tremenheere, Penzance

could be worst 'spoon' in the country
Took 20 minutes to get served even though quite empty. Nowhere to sit as every table was full of used plates glasses and muck. No one to serve behind bar and no one to clear tables
What kind of joke is that?
Not for me

The Beacon, Buttershaw

If you have seen rita sue and bob too you will be expecting a certain standard from this pub.
You will be wrong this pub is far rougher than it was portrayed in the film.

DO NOT VISIT IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!

The Blue Peter, Polperro

Staff have always been very nice when I visit. Maybe you have been asked to leave cos you are a drunken pain in the ass. If you are thrown out of a great pub like this then you are a social misfit

The Harbour Moon, West Looe

Gone downhill. All locals been driven out by landlords attitude. Tourists only keep the place going. Ideal for Londoners and chavs

11 Jul 2008 23:34

The Ship Inn, East Looe

Gone downhill since St Austell Breweries decided to desert it and not pay for sky tv anymore. I am not a local but visit 5 times a year. All the ambience and locals have gone. A shame really.

11 Jul 2008 23:29

The Ancient Foresters, Wibsey

DO NOT GO IN HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE
UNPLEASANT ATMOS WITH UNPLEASANT FOOD AND LANDLORD WHO IS ONLY INTERESTED IN MAKING MONEY
ALL LOCALS HAVE LEFT AND GOING DOWNHILL FAST

The Peaks Inn, Castleton

Good pint of black sheep. The thing that put me off this place was the barmaid had her kids in the pub with her mother in tow as well. The kids were totally out of control and running round the place. At one point they even stood staring at us whike we were on the quiz machine. Parents are so irresponsible these days. Will not visit again

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Castleton

We arrived in Castleton at 10.50 am and this pub was open. The service was very friendly and the landlord was a top bloke. He recommended the Pale Rider(strong ale) which pretty much set the standard for the day. I still don't remember getting back to the castle where we were staying(12 hours later)

17 Aug 2007 22:36

The Castle Hotel, Hope Valley

We stayed at The Castle this week and found it O.K.
We didn't eat there apart from breakfast which was continental and excellent (as much as you could eat)
Our room was in the basement and the toilet fan made a dreadful noise but a great time was had and no complaints.

17 Aug 2007 22:30

The George Hotel, Castleton

Lovely roast dinners
Would have tried a pie but they hadn't any left.
No horseradish sauce either but the mashed potato was magnificent.
The Spitfire bitter was excellent so I had 7 pints of it as it would have been rude not to

17 Aug 2007 22:24

Ye Olde Nags Head, Castleton

Very poor service
You have to ring a bell on the bar and wait several minutes before someone can be arsed coming to serve you. Got the impression the proprietors thought we were intruding in their house and not a public house at all.
Had Black Sheep which was very good but couldn't face ringing the bell to inconvenience the staff by serving me again.

Lewinnick Lodge, Newquay

This is a terrific pub/restaurant in a gorgeous spot. The sea views are magnificent and the food yummy. The Sunday lunch is very good. Definitely worth a visit. We always go several times when in Newquay. Very friendly bar and restaurant staff.

10 Aug 2007 19:56

The Mermaid Inn, Porth

a good holiday pub. Known as the pub on the beach I go 2 to 3 times a year to newquay and this pub is one of the reasons why. I live in Yorkshire but can be on the beach in newquay within 2 hours now you can fly from leeds to newquay amazing

31 Mar 2006 21:35

The Windmill, Wibsey

a good pub at the moment as it has got rid of the dodgy element by applying a dress code andover 25s policy all the dregs of society that frequented the pub 5 yearsago can now be found in the white swan over the road 100% better than it was

31 Mar 2006 21:28

The Decker, East Looe

A quite good pub good drink offers and nice iced glasses a step in the right direction having left the boscarn

30 Mar 2006 19:39

The Admiral Boscarn, East Looe

This pub is awful more like a creche when I went(on two occasions) pushchairs and screaming children running round the place. A pub that caters for the summer tourists only Even the locals avoid it. Overpriced no atmos and rundown

30 Mar 2006 19:36

The Wheatsheaf, Raby Mere

Good toasties good beer
A proper nice pub

30 Mar 2006 19:31

The Park, Wibsey

A fantastic local pub frequented by a wide range of "characters" watch out for Mad Tom and the local good ol' boy Keith (Colt Seavers)
Good clean pub with good beer and good atmosphere and quiz machine to boot. I suggest going to this pub early doors before moving on to the upper george for last orders

30 Mar 2006 19:23

The Blue Peter, Polperro

This is the best pub in the country without doubt It is best visited in winter when not packed with tourists the food is brill especially the red flannell hash the landlord steve is great as are the local horse racing tipsters always to be found in the corner can't wait to go back this year 10++++

29 Mar 2006 22:45

The White Swan, Wibsey

Gone down hill rapidly since the early nineties only worth visiting if on a heavy session the gents toilets are best avoided so move on to the next pub when you need to go

29 Mar 2006 22:39
