Dambusters Inn, Scampton

It's a pleasant enough pub in itself. The beer is good and the selection of food is reasonably priced. The gent's loo's are awful. Missing tap handles, no lock on the door, loo paper non- existent.

The Charles Dickins Inn, Weston Super Mare

Good grief. Now a local has been jailed for seriously wounding another customer with a machete.

The Regency, Weston Super Mare

Very nice friendly pub. Cosy and pleasant. Ice cold Becks on draft too.

The Load of Hay, Bedfont

I last went into this pub in 1961. It was a bit of a dump even then..

The Alehouse, Bath

We had a boys (over 60's!) day out in Bath and this was our first port of call from getting off the train. We felt welcomed and were treated well, so much so that we decided to return in the evening. Oh dear. The lad behind the bar never stopped texting while we were being served. Worse, I asked for a bottled beer which he served to me a in a glass engraved "Gaymers Cider". I asked for a proper glass and he raised his eyebrows derisively.

The Sloop Inn, St Ives

Not impressed. The lager was served in beer glasses and was flat and insipid. There was the compulsory local at the bar who wasn't moving for anyone and the barman didn't interrupt his conversation with him when we eventually did get served. The whole place smacked of complacency. We had one drink and went elsewhere.

George Inn, Cosham

This pub was my local up until 1984, so I was keen to visit when I returned to Portsmouth. The place was clean and bright, the service was good and the staff very amiable. Good beer too. I was delighted.

The Albion, Arnside

Great bar staff. Beer acceptable - food usual plastic rubbish.

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Arnside

Place looks good from the outside. The beer is OK too. Bar staff were dreadful - just a couple of disinterested girls who reminded me of my doctors receptionist (she regards all customers as a necessary evil)

The Old Colonial, Weston Super Mare

This once fabulous pub that was so well looked after by the Kennedy brothers is now just a plastic imitation of it's former self since being taken over by a chain.

Off The Rails, Weston Super Mare

Friendly locals only too willing to give you a High Six.

Nicks, Weston Super Mare

It's OK. Nice chilled Becks on draught. Outside heaters too!

Dragon Inn, Weston Super Mare

Typical Wetherspoons. Beer on it's sell-by date and the usual collection of day-time wasters hanging around. At least there's no background music and the chilli is pretty good.

The Charles Dickins Inn, Weston Super Mare

Give this place a miss. Seriously, it's full of alkies and losers.

The Waverley, Weston Super Mare

A great place for Monday quiz nights or Fridays when the in crowd take over the bar much to the chagrin of those who aren't part of the in crowd. Hey -who said life was fair?

The Regency, Weston Super Mare

A very nice professionally run establishment. Polite and helpful bar staff plus a friendly clientale make this pub an ideal place to spend an hour or two.

The Criterion, Weston Super Mare

The pubs OK but it's lit up brighter than the fairy on a Christmas tree and the furniture is just awful. The bar staff are pleasant enough but the owner hasn't a clue about ambience.
