All the reviews of this place are spot on. Our pub crawl was hitting a bit of a low but this place restored some faith. I agree it does feel a bit like a private club but that was fine. Also an impressive selection of ales too and it was great to see Bass on the pumps too. 8/10 montie49 - 25 Nov 2018 09:07 |
decent old school pub near to town centre. had a decent pint of something hart here. Snarling_Mallard - 15 Jun 2016 11:31 |
Reasonable freehouse just far enough off the beaten track to discourage the riff raff. The ale selection was a fairly standard national selection - Wells Bombardier, Youngs London Gold, Courage Best, Butcombe Bitter & Bass. The interior is a bit dark, but has some interesting features and there is a small outside area at the rear that feels a little claustrophobic, surrounded by large townhouses, but offers a slightly brighter environment. blue_scrumpy - 2 Aug 2013 20:15 |
I had a pint of Flowers IPA (!) which is apparently brewed for Inbev by Brains of Cardiff, followed by Butcombe, and am happy to confirm the foregoing reviews. They hold a beer festival during the last week in each month, with some obscure beers (to me), which looks worth a visit. Slightly peckish, but not really hungry, so opted for a simple beef sandwich. Bloody hell! I had to have another beer, as the sandwich was a proper "doorstep" job and took a lot of eating. A real pub, unlike so many in this country these days. Not a chav to be seen. Magic! Good beer, excellent food, nice atmosphere, friendly locals........my mate was a little put off by one of the bar staff, a greek looking chap that she described as an 'oily t**t' but he didn't bother me and wasn't enough to put her off another visit. Well worth a look, I will certainly be popping in again next time I'm in or around Weston, especially on a Sunday for one of their excellent roasts. Thebeernecesseties - 15 Jun 2011 08:58 |
