The Kingston Mill, Kingston Upon Thames

Too many people smoking outside the door! Could not even walk in, it was so smoky! If you want customers you need to make the smokers go a bit further away from the door as not all of us want passive smoke on the way into a pub!

The Anglers, Teddington

Update on my bad review a few months ago, for a while the Anglers got a lot better as they even changed the nut roast to be vegan, so showing willingness to be vegan-friendly. We went quite often but sadly without warning they no longer do the nut roast. They did a stuffed pepper for us as vegans, made a special effort because of our disappointment on going there and finding no vegan nut roast on the menu, but on some of our friends' orders they got it wrong and kept bringing out the one with cheese! It's a shame after they made an effort, that they now seem to have forgotten the difference between vegan and vegetarian. As I represent the local vegetarian and vegan group I have recommended this pub to lots of people as one of the most vegan-friendly ones in the area but to be honest, although they make the effort they can be a bit hit and miss for vegans.

The Royal Oak, New Malden

We found the staff worse than indifferent! Last year a few of us in our vegetarian and vegan group were going to this pub quite regularly because they had a vegan falafel burger. Now they have taken it off the menu and were not even willing to customise anything for us although we had come a long way to this pub. We were stuck with chips and beans, boring! We will not be back, they were vegan-friendly last year but dropped that side of the food despite it having gained them lots of new customers (who they will now have lost)!

We went in January, the staff were so helpful to us as veggies and vegans, we got some lovely food there.
We went today after the new management took over (we had no idea this was happening), they were really unhelpful and inflexible and seemed to even begrudge letting us buy just chips!
We will not be back and nor will our friends who were with us last month and many of us would have become regulars if they had remained as helpful as they were in January.
They have gone downhill fast in terms of attitude under the new management.

Nice for families but do they have to have the smoking area so you have to pass through the smoke on the way to and from the kids play area? Not a good idea!

The Adelaide, Teddington

Went there on a weekday evening for a meeting with a few people. I think it is a good choice, a nice quiet pub, didn't see any rowdiness and unlike some pubs no-one smoking just by the doors so made a nice change not to have passive smoking on the way in or out.

Bishop Out Of Residence, Kingston Upon Thames

Went there for a friend's birthday drink, it was a Saturday night and I regret going. They had on very loud music, no-one could hear themeselves talk let alone what anyone else is saying, also lots of people smoking just outside very close to the exits and whenever the door opened you got a lungful of it (we have a smoking ban so please stop so much of it coming into the building!). Probably nicer in the day though.
