Greatly improved since bought by Fullers. Was a 'drinking barn', and still big, but interior now cleverly sub-divided into differentiated areas - cosy settees, open fire in winter, great views from 'eating' area, newspapers, sensible range of ales with good balance between regular well-kept Fuller's brands and a guest ale or two. Friendly and obliging staff who still manage - just - when the huge garden can be almost overwhelmed in summer with perhaps a shade too-liberal attitude to children

This is of course a great location but, like so many pubs that have that luck, they stop bothering. Beer is ok but the food is massively overpriced and very average with tiny portions. We had very disappointing meals and had to eat again when we got home. Service was also very very slow, nearly 40mins and 2 chases before our food came.
Shame really.

Just been to Anglers for Sunday lunch. Very busy and a lot of families with children, no place in small car park. Ended up outside but service quick and sirloin, Yorkshire pudding, and seasonal vegetables excellent. I noticed the menu had a veggie special with Yorkshire pudding well done. The full Fullers beers on offer including Seafarers and winter ale. Decent pint of Pride and attentive service throughout.

It's alright is the Anglers. Large pub so there's always somewhere to sit. Always have a fine selection of ales and all are consistently in good shape.
Seem to have at least four of five staff behind the bar so waiting times never an issue.
I don't know, I can't think of many bad things regarding the Anglers but I just does'nt really do it for me. Nethertheless I shall still visit from time to time to enjoy a good drink of the Seafarers.

Avoid this pub when the weather is good, which ironically should be the best time to go to this pub. A trip here on a sunny Aug Sunday led to us spending 15mins finding a table, 30 mins queuing to order food and then 1hr 30mins waiting for food that never came. After asking where it was we were told it would be 30 or more further minutes. So with young children we had to go into Teddington and buy sandwiches from M&S. Fullers should be ashamed of the organisational shambles at this pub.
