Still slumbering.

No real ale at present.

The Ship Inn, Lathom

A good selection of cask ales usually and excellent food. Advise booking a table if you want to eat at weekends in the restaurant area. Right by the junction of the Rufford Branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal with the main line, moor to the east of the swing bridge if coming by boat.

The Railway Hotel, Parbold

RogerB's review seems to sum the pub up very well - I can't add to that really.

Original Bay Horse, Horwich

A well earned entry in the Camra guide.

I don't know about wired for sound, with landlord Peter's DIY it's more likely to be wired for an electrical fire......

However...great pub.

The Wellington Inn, Welshpool

Rough and ready but in a way that made me like this pub. Low ceilings, dark corners and worn fittings and fixtures all added to the "real pub" atmosphere. Friendly to a visitor, good beer. I'd happily have it down the road from me.

The Dover Lock, Abram

Canalside pub with good beer and excellent food. In the middle of a former mining area which is now very green. Visited three times recently, each visit notable for the amount of loud swearing going on by other customers - not one for families or the meek and mild.

The Kings Lock, Middlewich

Traditional pub by the canal, beer garden by the lockside, Green King IPA on handpump.

The Queens Head, Congleton

Visited in the evening whilst passing through Congleton by boat, a friendly traditional pub with a good selection of well kept beers convenient for the station as well as the canal. Landlord took the trouble to get a torch and show us back down the steep steps to our boat in the dark.

The Crown Hotel, Standish

This is a very good pub. Good choice of well kept beers plus Aspall cider on tap. Hot food looked excellent, the sandwich I had came complete with homemade chutney, homemade crisps plus salad. Is a CAMRA regional pub of the year. About two miles from the M6, worth breaking a journey for.

The Toll Bar, Horwich

Trying for but so far not attracting the older drinkers back. Entertainment choice of DJ with dance mixes and lazer light shows visible from outside could be something to do with this. If it stops trying to be a club, ditches the DJ and concentrates on being the traditional stone built pub it is it could take off again quite successfully.

Original Bay Horse, Horwich

Traditional pub with great beer, my favourite in Horwich. The two regulars in the main rooom have come in for a fair bit of stick on BITE recently and certainly need a "Paretial Advisory" sticker, but the pub would'nt seem right without them. For some reason they do remind me of Churchill Insurance, though, particularly when viewed across the bar from the snug.

Often overlooked but pleasant beer garden out the back with plenty of greenery.

The Bowling Green, Horwich

Yes - the unpredictable opening times can be a bit of a pain but it's still a good pub when it's open.
