The Trout, Hammersmith

I called at The Trout several times recently.

Green King and Sausage and Mash was very nice and the Prices reasonable.

Conveniently situated next to the Underground Stations and shopping Centre.

The Cambridge, Soho

A great place for people watching, its right on Cambridge Circus.

One can sit on the high Stools next to the bar for an outside view or in the Summertime next to the pavement.

Always an interesting choice of guest Beers, Yesterday I enjoyed a Pint of "Butty Bach".

The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

I recently enjoyed a couple of Pints of Black Sheep here on a warm Sunday afternoon.

A great location next to the Thames with a choice of a small Bar inside, Tables outside or benches right next to the River.

Compleat Angler, Norwich

A great location next to a River, quiet when I was there.

Pleasant bar Staff.

No sign of any Football fans fortunately so I enjoyed a couple of pints of Wherry.

The Crown And Two Chairmen, Soho

My first visit to this Pub, an impressive range of Beers, Ciders and Lagers.

I very much enjoyed the Kelburn Red Smiddy, in fact I had too many!

I will have to return to sample some more at a later date.

The Lemon Tree, Covent Garden

My first visit to this Pub.

It was quiet on a Week day after noon, my two Pints of Deuchars IPA and Singapore Noodles were delicious.

I will return.

Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

Another great place to watch the World go by from.

In this case there is a Window overlooking the River Thames, recently I spent an Afternoon here drinking the excellent Rudgate Bitter and watching the River traffic go by.

The Cambridge, Soho

Enjoyed a Pint of London Pride and a meal of Pork and Lamb balls with mash here recently, both were excellent and the Meal arrived quickly .

De Hems, Soho

De Hems is a good place to go if you want to try new flavours.

For my first visit I tried Bitterballen (a tasty snack) and Delirium Tremens a Bottled Beer.

Both made a pleasant change.

I shall return soon, there are plenty more that I would like to try.

The White Hart, Holborn

I recently found myself in the White Hart because I overnighted in Travelodge opposite.

I nearly walked out again but after a long wait I eventually was served by a Barmaid who needed another few Minutes of hand signals to direct Her to the Bottle of Laphroaig.

A third rate Suburban Pub some how transplanted to central London.

24 Dec 2011 20:39

The Garrick Arms, Trafalgar Square

I had a Pint of Abbots and a meal here recently.

I had no problems with either, I shall return.

Personally I am not bothered by Tourists or the Pub being "anonymous", that could be said about a good few.

The Crown, Soho

My first visit to this Pub.

Just a few minutes from Piccadilly Circus if you know where to go.

It was quiet mid afternoon when I called which was just what I wanted.

I found the Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted very drinkable and the Beef Stew delicious.

Some may not like the climb up the narrow Wooden Stairs to the Toilets.

I shall return.

The Spice of Life, Cambridge Circus

Good to see that the Kazi has been refurbished but I didn't like the sticky Banister on the way down.

I tried a Pint of Blue Moon "an American Wheat Beer" , an odd taste, not for me!

27 Aug 2011 10:56

Yr Hen Dderwan, Carmarthen

Had a nice Pint of something local, the name of which I have forgotten.

Barman was polite and helpful but I could not get the "free Wifi" to work.

16 Aug 2011 17:01

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

I enjoyed my Pint of Porterhouse Red here, but there is not enough seats I would like to sit down.

I shall return.

27 Jun 2011 23:28

The Archers, Whitechapel

Avoid!

Graffiti in the Toilet, sullen Barmaid, mostly Lager available.

Only one other punter there when I called and He was unbalanced.

I drank my Lager quickly, had a "P" and left.

11 Apr 2011 20:56

The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

Another great place for watching the world pass by, by the River in Twickenham.

Not a lot happening on a Weekday afternoon, but the Pint of London Pride went down well.

Plenty of Seats outside alas a cold wind spoiled it a bit, .......................I shall return when it is warmer.

4 Apr 2011 16:08

The Ship and Shovell, Charing Cross

An unusual Pub on both sides of a narrow Footpath, ( I wonder how deliveries are made? ).

A traditional Pub with an English Landlord.

My visit was on a busy Friday Night, a mixed clientle of City types, tourists, ETC.

I reacquainted myself with Tanglefoot the first since I had an unfortunate experience with Tanglefoot when I made some new friends at the The Great Dorset Steam Fair some Years ago.

......................But that is another story.

30 Mar 2011 12:08

The Imperial, Soho

A secluded Pub on a quiet Street that has been Pedestrianized just off the northern side of Leicester Square.

The Imperial never seems to get crowded so Seats and tables are usually available.

I have recent had my first Pint of Doombar there and may return to try another.

5 Mar 2011 18:06

The Spice of Life, Cambridge Circus

I recently popped in here for a Pint of McMullens IPA and also had the Wild boar & apple sausages Mash which was delicious but I thought a bit overpriced at 9.50.

Quite a big Pub so plenty Tables when I was there late afternoon.

The live Music downstairs was not open when I was there but ................
I shall return.

25 Feb 2011 21:54

The Bothy Bar, Fort Augustus

A very nice location opposite the Canal with Tables next to the canal.

I called here on a Sunny July Day in 2008.

I only stopped for one Pint but I enjoyed watching the Boat traffic on the canal so much that I found Bed and Breakfast nearby and stayed all day!

18 Feb 2011 14:37

The Angel and Crown, Leicester Square

I called on a week day Afternoon for a quick Pint.

Nothing special here, but I did enjoy my Pint of Thwaites Wainwright.

Toilets are downstairs in the Cellar and seem to have been missed out when decorating for several generations.
