The "Cherwell Chef of the Year 2003" trades on past glories perhaps, who has won this award in the years since? The sole handpull (Bombardier) was in good order on Sunday afternoon but drinking in a dining room wasn't quite the pub-feel we had been hoping for. paul_d102 - 3 Nov 2020 08:49 |
A completley souless pub trying to be a restaurant, you know the type of place with pictures of the chef on the walls! I think it is a bit of an ego trip for someone?? They made me as a drinker and casual diner most unwelcome, beer was flat and loos dirty........save your money I will not be back. Jamie james67 - 30 Oct 2010 14:10 |
We seem to use this pub early in the evening on a Saturday one night a summer. The bar is clean and tidy but there is always qute a wait because people waiting to eat seem to be flathing about at the bar. It is not a pub that makes you over welcome unless you are eating & the menu appears rather flash & other priced. There are numerous table / bench's to be sat at overlooking the carpark where you could sit with a family if you so wished. All the tables in the bar only seem to acomadate one or two people I think a quick visit once a year is more than enough too be honest !!!! Twelveman - 31 May 2010 20:26 |
I have just spent a most uncomfortable evening, not to mention a considerable amount of money for an evening at this 'pub' and would ask readers to seriously reconsider before visiting it themselves. A few points... The restaurant was extremely cold. One of our party kept her coat - and boots - on all evening. When we mentioned this to the waitress we were told that other diners would be arriving shortly and that the place would 'warm up soon'. We were charged over 7 for a 250ml glass of average house wine and over 4 for a glass of orange and soda. The food was fairly dire, oversalted and almost all directly from the freezer. From my seat I had a clear view of the kitchens which were, at all times, nothing more than serving areas with absolutely no evidence of food being freshly cooked. One saving grace - as the deserts were all very heavy I asked for some fresh fruit. This arrived and was well presented. On a Monday evening - albeit before Christmas - and with over half the resaurant empty, the only 'choice' was the 'Christmas meal' at over 25. Being part of a small group of colleagues and, being at the Moon and Sixpence as a result of the arrangements of a fellow colleague, it felt very uncomfortable complaining on the spot. This will not prevent me from voicing my concerns to the management at the earliest opportunity. MumandKids - 8 Dec 2008 22:53 |
Redeveloped in 2008, and now a 'gastro pub'. Good value for good food - we had a great family Sunday lunch. Will go back. Serves Wells & Youngs beers. helen5885 - 16 Nov 2008 16:59 |
