flat lager, watered down guiness and rude, surly bar staff. terrible pub. avoid. davedeedozy - 14 May 2012 15:40 |
Largish pub in a side street off Quay Street ( main road to Salford ) , but within the Manchester City Centre boundaries. As previous posters have correctly pointed out, this is " Vera Duckworths pub " and the pub is adorned with numerous photos and press cuttings of our Vera and other cast members. In many other respects, its a somewhat unremarkable pub, with, despite a reasonably traditional feel, the slightly impersonal ambience of a City Centre circuit pub. I gather it does indeed get impossibly busy on Friday and Saturday nights. There's no real ale. In conclusion, I found it a pleasant enough place, but unless you're a big Corrie addict, I see no real reason to specifically seek this one out, given nearby alternatives. Was quiet when I passed yesterday afternoon but I imagine there were a few celebrations in the evening to mark the departure of Vera from Corrie. Millay - 19 Jan 2008 23:03 |
Was in for lunch and then a few pints watching the England footie match on Saturday. Only a handful of people in there when we arrived, so got a good seat right in front of the telly. Ordered some lunch, but they had clearly had a problem ordering stock - half the menu wasn't available. My lasagne was average and service not great - my mates meal arrived 10mins after mine. That aside, beer was good and is a pleasant enough place to spend a few hours, as long as you don't mind Duckworths face staring back at you everywhere you look atsoutar - 15 Oct 2007 11:30 |
Got off with Ena Sharples in here! Actually, it really was an eventful night. A fight broke out after someone called Mike Baldwin a cockney twa-t. Len Fairclough was arrested for chatting up some six year old. But funnily enough, Bert, the shirt, Tyldesley disappeared with a duffel bag into the toilets and wasn't seen all night. He was OK, though. It later transpired that he'd accidentally got locked in a toilet that was already occupied. Now that must have been embarrassing. Average pub, average beer. cohenst - 19 Sep 2007 03:24 |
