user reviews of Totnes Brewing Company, Totnes

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A better experience than the other brewery tap in the town but you pay for the characterful surroundings. The Totnes Brewing Company's Prism had sold out on draught by the time I went for a refill so others must have found it as enjoyable as me. Craft beer menu was a little mainstream (Beavertown, Wild Beer, Moor etc.) but nothing to dislike here.

After the madness of the Bull, seeing bar staff with eye patches and customers dressed in sailor costumes all seemed quite sensible to me. This two-roomed bar was packed and was noisy. But it has a good selection of real ales, craft beers and ciders dispensed from its two bars. On this visit, ales from Totnes Brewing Company were Breakfast Bitter, Woodsman IPA & Tropango. Guests were Springhead Outlawed & Thornbridge Peveril. Ciders were Thistly Cross Jaggy Thistle & Ashridge Traditional. With no seats available, I was forced to prop up the bar. But I'd imagine this could be a much better experience on anything other than a Saturday evening. Worth a try though.

After our experience in Newton abbot this brewpub was a very good experience. Only gripe was their own beer was a bit on the high gravity. Def recommend a visit and I am not a bearded hipster and have loved real ale for 45 years

This is a fairly new place on the site of what was the Castle inn.

I have nothing against any kind of micro brewery style place, only problem is that they are always full of bearded hipsters trying to be cool.

In five years time they won't give a shit about real ale and be onto the next fad.

This is worth a visit, it has a very wide selection of world ales, and ciders, with a wood spit and sawdust feel inside, or a large quiet back garden which feel looks up to Totnes castle looming overhead.

On the high street, with some great local shops, eateries, pubs,

Bar staff are friendly, this is like a brewery tap, as the brewing vessels, and tanks are directly behind the bar. Prices are 350p to 500p a pint depending on what you would like. As compared to the cheaper but less choice New Lion Brewery 5 minute walk away.
