Went in here for the first time on Monday for the pub quiz. The pub itself is OK (6/10) although the service when I arrived was DIRE!!!

Anyway, there were good-ish beers on (the Scrum Down helped me forget England's showing in the RWC!) and service improved once the quiz started.
This was the first pub quiz for me in years and I enjoyed it thorougly! £1 per person - I was Nobby No-Mates on my own but still came 5th out of 15.

Quiz recommended, pub was OK but, like everywhere in Romford, approach with caution (especially, I would think,m on Fridays and Saturdays!)!

Walked into this joint and was full of ruffians- was very wary...anyway, so ordered a pint of Ringwood and then.....KICK OFF!! Drunken scumbag with ripped T-shirt had a pop at a very polite and nice bouncer and that was it !!!! PUNCH UP TIME....we bailed out of course not even bothering to pay for the pints...all that's bad about Britain but in Romford...the whole place is bad....what a total dump

Love it in here, nice staff and good prices. gets very busy on a weekend and you always feel safe, which for anyone that knows Romford will agree is a good thing.

I've been a regular at this pub for about 8 years now, and the huge, rude bouncer on the door still doesn't acknowledge me when I say hello.
As for the actual pub itself...well...it's alright. That's all you can say really.
The barstaff seem to be handpicked from the prefects at Confusion school (about ten of them over the years have had to ask me what Brandy is), however they do work their hinies off on a Friday/Saturday night.
It's always a bit grubby in here, (don't even think of leaning on the bar), and seems to have lost a bit of it's charm with the re-vamp. Food is also pretty terrible, mixed-up orders are a common occurance, but hey-ho, it's better than the filth chip shop next door.
All in all, don't expect much more than a cheap pint, dirty elbows and some bloke called Dave pinching your arse.

Positives -
- Cheap drinks and food
- Big smoking garden
- Quite a bit of indoor seating

Negatives -
- Very rude doorstaff, who will practically throw your drink away to get you out of the pub way before closing
- Very busy on the weekend, yet there never seems to be enough barstaff. The barstaff themselves are pleasant enough, but on weekends they seem to be overworked and tired. More staff are needed
- On the new food menu, the vegetarian options are practically non-existent.
